All the soaps are getting ridiculous ,all that's happening is every body is sleeping with all and sundry every time they have some kind of upset in their lives there first thought is who can I have sex with.Im surprised that std s are not at epidemic proportions in all the soaps.I thought soups reflected life to a certain degree but the story lines are bloody ridiculous I think I will give up on them all until the writers get some original ideas and stop copying each other.

I'm completely DONE with affairs.

Abi and Jay were EastEnders' longest serving couple until they broke up. Not bothered to look up which couple now holds the current title, but it's beyond a joke that a couple of teens were ever in that position.

I also read on here that Kylie and David were the longest serving couple on Corrie - then they went and broke up - and apparently next in line was Sinead and Chesney Come on!!! 50 years and not one single solid relationship past a few months old! What's the point?!

Emmerdale isn't much of an improvement. I think the only solid relationships it has is Alicia/David (Alicia's leaving, though, so that's depressing) and Bob/Brenda. I don't count Val/Eric since a lot of their relationship has centred around cheating (and Val's also leaving, so... again, depressing since despite the cheating they are generally a pretty strong couple).

We have so many triangles/affairs right now:
Cain/Moira/Charity
Jai/Megan/Leyla
Debbie/Ross/Pete
Aaron/Robert/Chrissie
Harriet/Ashley/Laurel

One night stand Vanessa/Adam and James/Emma, who's the daddy? storyline with Charity, a few months back we had Ali/Dan... We had a triangle with Tracy/Sam/Rachel...

It's just absolute laziness to not put better 'hurdles' in front of the couples. Not everything has to surround sex/affairs/who's the daddy? storylines.
There's so much out there to do other than these cheap plots all the time, but they clearly don't care.
I really wish a soap would just concentrate on making their couples solid instead of all the silly nonsense we get.

I really don't get the appeal of the affair storylines, and I'm fast losing interest in Emmerdale for it. CS, EE and HO have already lost me as a viewer.
If the affairs aren't just to make the summer stunt more dramatic (rolls eyes) and these affairs continue to dominate the winter months, it's going to take a lot of persuading for me to stand by it... and by persuading I mean lots of Charity Without Cain... or any type of affair.

This is the main problem, the same storyline repeated over and over, its all old hat.

I can't believe Chesney & Sinead are Corrie's longest couple.

It must be right but that is pathetic.

EE is ridiculous just now with the amount of affair storylines going on, if only the broadcasters would have some sense and reduce the amount of episodes, all the soaps would be better quality.

Didn't Emmerdale announce that this would be their 'summer of infidelity' ?? At least there we were warned to expect a certain amount of cheating and lying between the characters.

I do agree though that it is absilutely ridiculous that couples never remain faithful in soap these days. Hollyoaks is the worst offender, I think Tom and Perri are the only couple in the soap who haven't cheated and they are young teenagers!

I'd personally like to CS to go back to it's roots, reign in the fires and explosions and give us some heartfelt drama. I want to see Jenny Bradley and Kev hook up for the long haul, as well as Jason and Eva when she returns. David and Kylie will hopefully put the past behind them and move on, they have a future together, I just hope they don't drag out the Callum aftermath for too long. Steph and Andy also have the potential to buck the trend and be a young, loving couple who manage to avoid the cliche storylines.

But are they a triangle or is that in Moira's head? Even the
Spoiler
. I think we could say the same with Ashley, Harriet and Laurel. With these couples it seems to be more about one person doubting the other than a definite affair.

In general though, I agree that there are way too many affairs.
