Is 02 insurance worth it?

Is it worth getting insurance with them?

It is 12.50 a month but the iPhone 64gb is very expensive so if i were to lose it, it may come in handy.

I have heard horror stories about 02's insurance so wanted some advice.

Depends how you look at it, price wise its more expensive that sorting it out yourself, although it usually comes with a quick turn around.

It really depends on how you treat your handset, if you have never made claims but have it there as security is there any need to be paying over the odds for network supplied insurance?

I pay a fraction of that and get me and my husbands phone covered. Check with your bank and see what they offer, be aware mind you Apple iPhones do tend to carry a hefty excess charge whether lost or damaged.

I'd have a look at external companies like protectmybubble.com

You might also want to check your house insurance (if you've got it that is), mine covers my devices even when out of the house, which is hand.

I always think you have to be logical about these things.

How many times in the past have you lost your phone and made a claim?

That probably tells you the likely hood of it happening. However yes it can.

That insurance over 2 years costs you £300

Now if you lost the iphone would you want a new one? If so, then you couldnt really replace for £300 however if you would be happy to just have a cheaper phone until end of contract - then that £300 is better in your pocket.

After all you may never need to spend it.

As for damage, you could consider buying a half decent case instead. I must be one of the few that has never smashed a screen, but I do have a slightly thicker than normal phone for it. My current phone is pristine and it's about 18 months old.

No just no......there has been a plethora of threads about that site on here and over at moneysavingexpert.com

Banks usually use a company called CPP for the gadget and phone cover. They are good and also underwrite the network offering from Vodafone (who charge £12 or so for iPhone).

Most people can get Phone insurance through their bank for less than £6 or so. Again I do stress going the bank route if you have an iPhone will carry a costly excess should the phone be lost, stolen or damaged. Other phones like the S6 or Note 4 carry a normal excess, £25 for accidental and £50 for lost, stolen etc.

OP speak to your bank, I wouldn't recommend claiming on your house/home insurance either, when that happens your premiums go up. With dedicated mobile phone insurance that is not the case, should you claim once maybe twice in a year it doesn't put your monthly cost up. Not that I am trying to sell you a premium bank account, if you have a word with your bank or building society they should be able to offer an account which accommodates your needs.

Check your bank.

A lot of current accounts offer phone insurance S part of the package.

Whenever I've got a new iPhone in the past I've called the house insurance and added it to that. Covered damage/loss/accidental damage for around £2 a year.

I've not made a claim but I know a couple of ppl who have and had no issues with a fast turn around .Plus you get a new phone if yours is lost or damaged beyond repair, not a reconditioned one.

My premium for a iPhone 5c 32gb is £7.20 a month.

Endsleigh Insurance is owned and underwritten by Zurich. They are default choice for Halls of Residence cover.

Not looked at their Mobile cover mind you, point I'm making is they are backed by a reputable firm so claims should be simple and quick......

But again check the T&C before committing, they might have a large excess like a lot of other places for the iPhone.
