Amazing! $6,333,295. Get in! Can't wait to play it.

Really hope Sega do the clever thing now and release the originals too. I don't doubt they will at some point tbh.

Yeh same here, from what I can gather via ys's web chats etc, the game will still be a superb experience even at a 5mil raised ks.

With two days to go and the game creeping nearer to 5.1million, I think it may just reach the 6mil mark, if the initial spike expected to occur does happen.

I'd be dead happy with that.
It would seem numerous shenmue community's, are determined to raise the other 4/5million via PayPal, to get the full experience.
I was right

Just a shame it didn't quite make 6.5mil goal

The Kickstarter has ended with 69,320 backers who funded a total of $6,333,295. This is a great effort.

Also, Yu Sukuki said this on a Twitch stream that ended not too long ago:

"It's going to be an open world game again. The stage will be Chobu. The quality has to be equal or better... Unless we went this way around (through Kickstarter) Shenmue 3 would never have materialized... feel the weight of responsibility and it gives me every motivation to create a Shenmue-like world... We will continue to make funding available through PayPal... I'd like to say thank-you to all the fans that supported us. I ask for your continued support."

So funding will continue through Paypal, i had a feeling that would happen. Now the people who didn't get to fund it through Kickstarter can do it through Paypal
Thank god we done enough to get a true open world.

A linear shenmue with little free roaming, (wich I belive we would of got, if say, we only made the 2mil pledge). Just would'nt of felt like a shenmue experience.

With PayPal donations still being accepted. I'll donate some more after my holidays are over, and I expect the budget will increase considerably, to allow yu suzuki to make the game how he sees it.

Plus, who knows what outside investment may now arise, afther this highly successful campaign.

I don't know, this is Sega we are talking about here. They did say recently that they are looking at ways to gain the trust of the fans back, so you never know, they may do something with Shenmue 1 & 2.

Tbh, it would be in sega's interests to help with some more investment to make it the best game it can be.

Afterall, it would seem the next shenmue game may have much more budget if 3 is a commercial success.

I've never understood why shenmue gets slammed as a flop.

The dreamcast sold like 10million consoles, shenmue managed a very decent 1.2million in sales. That's a pretty good return on such poor console sales.

If we apply a rough estimate on the ps4, and assume the console has shifted at least 45million units by 2017, (currently around 25million) then shenmue III would sell anywhere between 3 to 5million.

Only need look at the sales the superb witcher 3 has had to see it could happen. The most commercially successful by a large margin in the whole series.

Paypal has finally been added, it sure did take a long time though.

The rewards are still in place which is pretty cool, it's a bit annoying that they have only opened it for a limited amount of time though, i think it should be open indefinitely. Here is the link:

Sega have registered some new domain names.

ShenmueHD.com and Shenmueremastered.com

Seems a likely indicator that 1 & 2 are coming to PS4 at least.
