I was wondering about this after his brief scene with Roxy last night. This was probably the first time Dean and Roxy interacted since 2007. I think they had an odd scene when her and Ronnie arrived and Deano (at the time) was trying to chat them up. What I noticed is that she didn't seem too bothered about talking to him even for that brief moment despite probably knowing about the stuff with Linda (word of mouth).

Has Dean, in storyline terms, divided the Square in terms of which side they believe?

Aside from the Denise, Shirley and Buster, it seems like some characters don't have a problem with him. Ian didn't believe he raped Linda after he was let off by the CPS, Billy doesn't have a problem with Lola working at Blades, presumably Les and Pam neither as Paul works there too.

Patrick and Kim had their suspicions despite living in the same house.

Sharon and Jane believe Linda. As does Stacey, Shabnam and Masood judging by their comments about him. I assume Kush doesn't like Dean despite not knowing him that well. Cora said she hoped they caught him right before she left to stay with Tanya.

Then there's numerous others who haven't expressed an opinion either way.

Obviously Linda, Mick, Nancy, and Lee have the biggest issue with Dean. Stacey, Sharon, Jane, and Masood have been very vocal about what he did, so it would seem they believe Linda. Kat also threw some barbs Dean's way before she left. Whitney and Tamwar seem to be keeping their distance from him, in part because of their involvement with Lee and Nancy I'm sure. Kim and Patrick have their reservations about him, but it doesn't seem as though it bothers them enough to want him out of the house. Shabnam and Kush keep their distance from Dean, but for different reasons.

Shirley and Buster support Dean (although both clearly have their doubts). Denise has been supportive of him as well and doesn't seem to have any doubts at the moment. Lola doesn't seem to doubt Dean either, and she's the one employee who has stood by him the whole time. I think Ian said something once about not believing it was rape, but I don't recall him saying anything since.

Tina's one that I can't really determine where she stands. She seemed to believe Linda, but she also didn't want to lose Shirley and even moved into the Fox house for awhile. Tina's kind of moved on and her focus is on Sonia and her family now, so I don't know how much more we'll see of her in regard to Dean.

Babe is a big question mark, but she's a sociopath who just wants to manipulate her family for her own needs, so I think her opinion is sort of irrelevant.

Ronnie, Roxy, Charlie, Pam, Paul, Les, Donna, Phil, Billy, Carol, Sonia, Liam, Ben, Max, Abi, Martin, Dot, Jay, Fatboy, Vincent, Claudette, and Cindy haven't said anything or don't appear to be bothered by Dean either way.

Overall, I'd say Dean has more people avoiding him than supporting him, but there are a ton of characters who are neutral about or not involved with him. I don't think it would be fair to say the Square is divided over Dean.

There hasn't been as much spill over into other characters as I thought there would be, aside from Stacey no non-Carter has really been highly involved in Dean and the rape. Even Sharon's role has been fairly minor.

Ian doesn't believe Linda - remember that line to Jane saying that he didn't think anything happened?

Lola is still working for Dean and was going to go out for a drink with him so I would imagine that if she believed Linda then she wouldn't have.

Not sure about Roxy - she talked to Dean fine the other day so I imagine she isn't getting involved or doesn't believe it.

OK after tonight's episode, Roxy either has no idea about what happened with Dean or she doesn't have a problem with him as the charges were dropped.

Charlie was preoccupied with the Ronnie stuff in January and he barely knows Dean anyway.

Ronnie was in hospital for months so doesn't know anything, and doesn't know the Carters that well.
