Apparently, some are horrified by it!

And yet Cristian calls all the blokes 'Bro' and that's fine.

Tbh, I've only seen that mentioned on here.

Do you remember when she said this?

Yes. She told Sam ( on the first night ) to begin with then she told Chloe and Jade. It's common knowledge in the house. You obviously weren't aware of it.

Like any relationship I guess things can get a bit ****ed up (?).

The only two I've ever met who called each other 'wifey' (all the time on twitter etc) - well, one was a sociopath and the other goodness knows, but she was a very troubled girl. I had to cut off all contact with both of them as they had enough problems separately but together....wow.

Not saying by any means all or even most of them are like that (I guess it's more like BFF or whatever for most, and so they feel they have a significant other even when they don't really) but I think it can get twisted.

<edit> Harry I can believe she's possibly invested more into that 'relationship' - Sam sounds more like 'look how popular, controversial and down with things I am' - just my impression

<edit2> Oh the other thing with the two I knew was it seemed a ploy to make them seem harder to work for/more desirable to blokes.

Was it in the highlights show of the first night?
I saw her and Sam telling Jack that they had wives, but don't remember that bit.

Big deal ? No. Confusing ? Yes.

Words have meaning. If a person is going to arbitrarily change the definition, then make that clear.

If I decided to rename the gnome in my garden ( I don't have gnomes, but for arguments sake) ..... If I decided to call it a dragon and would refer to it as such in conversation.
"Make sure you're careful not to step on the dragon when you go outside. " The first thing people would think would be "????????????????"

If I decided not to clarify what I meant & give vague responses when questioned about my dragon, then yes, it's going to lead to further confusion. Does it really take so much effort on behalf of the person asserting they've got a wife (or a dragon) to spend a minute clarifying the issue ?

Fine. This is clearly what the girlies are saying these days. Fair do's. Why then is there any need to be shifty & vague about it ?

It's the usage of the word wife that I find misleading. I don't see the need to take something that has a very defined meaning & use it to mean something different. What's wrong with simply saying best friend ?

I'm a straight female & I've never stumbled across this strange usage of the word before. At 37, I clearly must be getting too old to know what all the cool kids are saying now.”

BIB

Wife does have very defined meaning that's why the term for close gal pal is 'Wifey'. I think Harry is using 'Wife' as a code word for boyfriend, as she said herself it's best to appear single in her line of work. Plus there's a picture of her on twitter lying in bed holding hands with some bloke, which was taken right before she entered the house.

Every time I've seen Harry mention it to someone new, I've seen her explaining that she's a very close friend and they are joined at the hip.

I hope nobody now thinks she has a secret conjoined twin about her person!

I've made my point already. I think it's a valid one. Obviously I'm not the only person who was confused.

As an aside, if your comment were to be taken literally & someone happened to think it was a conjoined situation, then a quick explanation from you to clarify it would clear it up. Job done, with minimal fuss.

This tells us no more than what she's already said on previous occasions.

Her wife is obviously just a very close friend. What people in and outside the house are confused about, is why she is using her wife as an excuse as to why she cannot be more than friends with Nick. If her wife is just a non-sexual close friend, why would this stop things progressing with Nick?

She's not been shifty or vauge about it. In the clip with Helen she was very quick to explain and on her first night she even said to everyone "She's not really my wife we just call each other that".

Didn't Harry mention some time ago she had a wife but she had a boyfriend?
I remember something crazy like that a week ago or the one before.

Her wife has been used as a metaphorical barrier to prevent Harry from being with Nick though. Personally I do think there's an element of being shifty about it.

I haven't got anything against Harry. I'm genuinely confused.

The OP should change the name of this thread , As Harry reveals nothing new , nothing she hasn't already said before. It's the same old evasive reasons for not being up front with Nick and the viewers . Vague suggestions that something more would happen on the outside of the BB house , All intended to string Nick and the viewers along but nothing definite that she will have follow through on later

Spot on.

It's given her a narrative on the show.

I agree I think it is a way of her being able to be detached and use this to say she can have fun but not have sex. I very much doubt Harry would allow anyone to tell her who she could and couldn't sleep with.

IN the house, taking home. I dont understand why the obvious has to be stated for people.

a stepdaughter and two women in the house do NOT WANT men to be brought in by harry for Sleepovers/sexual encounters.

I'd have that rule too if living with my sister or cousin or FEMALE stranger/roommate.

I'm not the least bit interested in having my safety put in question by my Escort friend bringing home clients/ men.

The wife says NO men allowed , harry is complying.

Thats a nice friendship

a wife is a position.

if you were going to rename your gnome and call it your "doorman" because it stands guard and watches your yard and door, then the example works.

or rename your gnome and refer to it as your gardener, because its always in the garden.

Calling someone your wife is tongue in cheek due to their role in your home.

not sure why everyone is making it about marriage/ sex

If that's the case then it's totally understandable. Those wishes should of course be respected. However, there's still room for ambiguity. Why not say both men & women are barred from being brought home ? Surely the rule should apply to both genders ? And how would by complying with the house rules in any way effect Harry having a relationship with Nick outside of the home ?

In so far as I know she hasn't commented further on that matter. So once again it's a vague bit of information that can be left open to interpretation.

You're not sure why people are making it all about marriage/sex ?

With respect, I find that a somewhat naive thing to say. I can't speak for everyone of course, but I'm sure a lot of people would assume it's a marriage/sex thing. At least initially anyway.

I, along with others were clueless about this seemingly new spin that's been put on the word wife. If that's what people call it then fine. No problem. Just don't be surprised if it causes some confusion along the way.

IMO Harry hasn't really done much to clear up what the situation actually is.

According to a Fb post Harry has a b/f and is pictured in bed with him on her Fb page, snapped the night before she came into the house. She is a blatant game player I cant believe how many have fallen for her poor me/limpit act.
