Why is it that whenever I come to this part of the forum all I ever see is the same few Kylie fans posting constant sales stats in every Madonna topic in what would appear to be a lame duck attempt at suggesting that some how makes Kylie the bigger artist.

Given fans of both must be in their 30/40s isn't this all a bit immature?

Its just tiring going to read a Madonna thread only to be met with the same essay long posting about how others have sold more and had more #1s than Madonna and that Madonna copied everyone etc.. its the same thing, word for word, every day by the same couple of people. I'm surprised the mods haven't stepped in to do something about it. Its killed all discussion.

It's absolutely ridiculous as there is no discussion in regards to who has sold the most records worldwide. They just need to check Google or Wikipedia. Maybe they don't like what they see there?

People on here love a good Kylie vs Madonna thread I personally prefer Kylie but both of them have probably had roughly the same amount of success as each other.

Kylie's had more UK number 1's (I think)

I like both artists but there are some Kylie fans who can't resist making digs at Madonna

Kylie has 7 Madonna 12. Kylie has had top 10's in 4 decades Madonna 3.

I think it is just inferiority Kylie is more well liked and respected everywhere but America she is more like Britney though whereas Madonna is Elvis like in her success and status. Some just refuse to see that or better still just enjoy the music. I'm a bigger KM fan by the way.

How do you know they are kylie fans, unless it's you just presuming this coz I know it's hard to believe but they can be fans of both artists

Sadly a lot of Madonna fans no longer choose to post here and I can see why. I have been accused of having multiple accounts and of being every Madonna fan on the site and I even got sent a PM filled with homophobic abuse. Thankfully the mods can read all PMs so banned that user and 2 other accounts I suspected he was seemingly using.

So yes it has got out of hand. Its really not worth reading the Madonna threads anymore.

It is pathetic, it happens so often now I tend to stay out of any thread labelled as either a Kylie or Madonna thread. The same repetitive droll gets rolled out in each of them. Fans who feel the need to do that are pathetic, childish and clearly have deep-seated inferiority complexes as well as other psychological problems.
We don't care how much either has sold, no one cares. Just stop. Both are successful artists. The end.

To be fair though, you have accused others of having multiple accounts as well, but absolutely no need for abuse on a pm.

Madonna is the bigger artist I don't think anybody can deny that.

I think it is because of those type of threads start with 'is Kylie/ Madonna the best thing since sliced bread' Instead of just 'I like******'s new song'

It's childish but it's from both sets of fans. On the thread about Madonna's new single, one of her fans had to bring up Kylie and it was completely out of nowhere and a petty jab.

Just grow up.

I will admit I bit back and baited some Kylie fans in return with a couple of threads. I did it mainly to see who replied to the topics..

At last count I have 9 users on ignore. I simply can't see their postings.

And homophobic abuse is totally out of order. People could be arrested for that sort of thing. There are internet laws covering it now.

I've never understood why there is rivalry in music. I love many artists and like seeing them all do well and the ones I don't like, I just ignore. What do people get out of creating "fan wars" when it just makes them look immature and sad?

I'm with you their, somes fans seem to treat it like a football rivalry, there are no winners or losers.

I'm a fan of both, Kylie has said numerous times that Madonna was a massive influence on her.

I think it's all extremely childish, and gets very tiring! Both sets of fans are as bad as each other and just smacks of insecurity, just enjoy what you enjoy!

I'm in my early 20s and ADORE kylie but I also like madonna. To me, madonna should be respected as a major influence on Kylie... Without madonna, we may not have had the full Kylie we know and love today. They are both music legends and need to be celebrated and supported. If both sets of fans united to support both artists we'd probably see more of them troubling the top 10...

I still live in hope that either one of them can get another number 1 single. Even if it is highly unlikely now that streaming is crippling the charts...

I'm not particularly a fan of either, but comparing Madonna to Kylie is pretty daft. Madonna was a huge star in her prime and she'll always be known, Kylie is kind of forgettable.

It's not like Madonna fans are innocent in all of this.

Ellie_Arbuckle has started numerous Kylie bashing threads, including one which the moderators locked, Living4Love (formerly Hit Em Up Style) is always trying to dismiss Kylie's success (he didn't even know the difference between a platinum album in the US and the UK), and Wizzywick seems to have scurried off with his tail between his legs. What happened to gpk? He seems to have disappeared now that Cheryl Cole’s career is firmly in the toilet. Only Human has sold less than Rebel Heart and Kiss Me Once. I bet he isn’t so smug now. Oh well, I'm sure he'll reappear under another moniker at some point (if he hasn't already).

Fans of Madonna will happily talk nonsense about other singers, but they don’t like it when people do it to her. If it’s not Kylie, it’s Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Janet Jackson. Don’t dish it out if you can’t handle a few home truths.

I think it's ludicrous when a Madonna asks if Kylie will get another big hit single in the UK. Kylie is the ONLY female artist over 40 who has had a top three hit in the UK this decade. In fact she's had four top 20 hits this since 2010 (including one last year) yet Madonna fans target Kylie, hahaha. Madonna hasn't had a top 20 hit since 2009. When will Madonna get another top three hit single that sells nearly 400k like All the Lovers? Kylie is still the only female artist with a top three hit in the 80s, 90s, 00s and the 10s.

Fans of Madonna took great satisfaction in the performance and sales of Kiss Me Once in the UK, but they’ve gone quiet now that Rebel Heart hasn’t done much better. The truth is Kylie’s had more success in the UK this decade than Madonna. Aphrodite has been certified platinum and The Abbey Road Sessions has sold 200k. Madonna's highest selling album this decade (MDNA) has only sold 135k. As for last decade, Fever outsold Confessions and X outsold Hard Candy. I also recall fans of Madonna gloating about the ticket sales of the Kiss Me Once Tour. Last time I checked, the Rebel Heart tour hasn't sold out. In fact, a proposed third date in London was quietly cancelled behind the scenes.

If the "Madonna no longer has anything left to prove" argument is good enough for her then it's good enough for Kylie after 28 successful years.

What I find amusing is how some people act like Kylie’s career ended after PWL. They hate that Kylie has held her own against Madonna, they hate that she isn’t the only 1980s female pop star who is still relevant today. There’s a reason why you still talk about Kylie and not Paula Abdul and Debbie Gibson. And all of this “Kylie fans are just jealous because she doesn’t have Madonna’s career” talk is hilarious. Kylie’s had 34 top 10 hits, seven #1 singles (including two million sellers), one of the most successful singles worldwide of the 2000s, she is the third highest selling female artist in UK chart history and has sold over 70 million records worldwide. That isn’t so bad for such a “flop”.

I think the above poster has just proven the point of the OP of yet another pointless LONG post, borderline verbal diarrhea that one has to put up with.

Jennifer Lopez had a number one single in the U.K. in 2011 when she was 41, but I don't think anyone else over 40 has had a top 10 hit besides her and Kylie.

Quite and it was that user who made me start the topic in the first place. I get the impression he has at least a dozen or so accounts.
