ED- Is Joanie Back For Good
I really like Denise Black as an actress. Is Joanie back in Emmerdale just for one episode or full time again now.

Hopefully, very very hopefully, no she isn't.
ED is great, but why do they keep bringing back characters nobody liked or cared a jot about first time round?! First terrible toxic Tracy, then the insufferably awful Rachel, and now bloody moany Joanie and her brat . FFS Emmerdale, if you must bring characters back, at least make them the decent or even half decent ones! Doing what they keep doing is like taking all your useless unnecessary and un-needed crap to the dump, then fetching it back later on

I saw an interview with Denise Black where she said that Joanie will be around a lot longer than last time, Joy... Kyle can stay, she can go.

She's alright, but is really pointless. She has no family or friends and will end up like Tracy who just hangs around leeching off and interacting with 1 or 2 other characters but doesn't integrate with the rest of the village.

I don't mind her so much, because she's played by a decent actress - my problem is that she brings with her yet another child.
There are far too many of them in Emmerdale for my liking. Send for the Pied Piper immediately!!!! ![]() And yes, she would make a friend for Lisa. It would be nice for Lisa to have that. |

Vic and Debs(another 'who's the daddy?'?) will probably be knocked up with a Barton soon. It's a shame they don't have a teenage cast. Lachlan just has 'dog' to hang around with.

Why though? What does Joanie add to the programme? It's clear she's only been brought back in order to reintroduce Kyle. He is the important character, not her.

I like the actress, Denise Black, but I don't want Joannie to stay. 1) That ghastly Amy might be brought back and 2 ). It might give her equally ghastly mother, Kerryman, more air time.

She seems to be coming back to play the 'horrible victim' role. She has rung her hands dry so much, she might as well put them on the clothes line.
Awful writing, awful role. |

I reckon Joanie has been brought back to perhaps be killed or abandon Kyle. I think there will be a custody thing to do with Kyle as a future storyline. There must be more then just a "pleading poverty" thing with her.
Denise Black is a fabulous actress. You simply do not see enough of her on british television. |

Maybe Joanie and Kyle will eventually become a family with Kerry, Dan and Amelia. I do find it funny that Kerry is Cain's son's Grandma!

No he's not. He's just another pointless kid. Hopefully soon to be shut in the cupboard with all the others.

Doing what they keep doing is like taking all your useless unnecessary and un-needed crap to the dump, then fetching it back later on![]() Rachel's tying up loose ends from last time and has obviously been responsible for Charity's downfall. I like how she's been brought back quickly while all the cast involved in her exit (bar Declan) are still around, rather than bringing her back years down the line when a number of cast members/characters may have moved on meaning her return had little impact. I think her return should have been handled a little differently as it's been largely inconsistent but I think having her back is justified. Same with Joanie. It'll be nice to see her interact with somebody different than Amy and I'd like to see more scenes with her, Zak, Belle and Lisa. The Dingles have become a bit stale recently and adding a new person to the mix might be an improvement for them over time. Either that, or it'll go tits up and they'll all just become as annoying as one another. Time will tell. ![]() Tracy - well there was no real reason to bring her back, but I think she's working better this time round than before. I like her weird friendship/pairings with Val, Finn and Bernice and look forward to her character being fleshed out at some point. |

I do not like Rachel, Vanessa, Kirin and Jai, but I am sure there will be people out there who do like them. I like Joanie and hope she stays. She is being harsh to Kerry though. I would like them to strike up a friendship and let Kerry see Kyle.

I thought her scene last night helping Belle was nice.

I like Joanie (Denise Black is always good) and she's like a breath of fresh air compared to Ms Oates recent younger and nastier signings. (Could do without Kyle though.

Charming. Believe it or not, not all people of a certain age go into old peoples homes.
I don't know how old Joanie is but Denise Black is only in her late fifties. Even assuming Joanie's maybe up to ten years older she's hardly decrepit. There really are some worrying attitudes to being 'older'(which appears to be anything over 40)these days. Joanie's spent the last four years grieving, raising a young child, and losing her home, poor soul. She's hardly going to look twenty. |
