Anyone here a fan of this very underrated band?

I love that they are so eclectically hard to pin down - sometimes proggy, sometimes psyche, sometimes heavier. Great lead vocalist in Roger Chapman too with that vocal vibrato.

I don't know a great deal of their music, tbh, but I loved their singles in the early seventies. We had " In My Own Time" in our record collection.
I heard them a couple of weeks ago, funnily enough, on a local rock station. It was a track I'd never heard before but I instantly knew who it was.
That unique quivery voice took me right back.

The day that I stopped loving you was the day you broke my nose

Would anyone get away with that today?

Yes, very under appreciated indeed.

I first heard them when the single Burlesque was released which I think was around 1972. On the strength of that I bought the album Bandstand. It cost the princely sum of £2.10. I still have it too! Great band.

I vaguely remember someone describing Chappo's voice as like "a sheep being thrown off a cliff".

Prefered Burlesque to In My Own Time , but never really got into them .

Around the same time & more to my taste and also underrated were Medicine Head

Slip & Slide

Family were quite well known by the early 70s and appeared a few times on TOTP as well as having some success with their albums, mainly here but also in the US. I remember John Peel plugged them a lot. I liked their 2nd album the best - Family Entertainment after which original bassist Rik Grech left to form Blind Faith with Eric Clapton
