Hi all

Have a one m8 running lollipop.

Just noticed my outlook app was not showing in google play or anything and it was called outlook.com and there was no way i could update.

Went on google play and couldent find an outlook.com only a outlook app which is the most up to date one it seems.

Is this an old version of the app or a dodgy hackers version i had installed?

Yeah it would work if you already had it, but no further updates and no available as a new download

Would you not be better off just using the email app already on your phone?

That outlook app needs/wants permissions to your call log which it has no business knowing

I got an email yesterday suggesting the old version may stop working on the 31st July 2015. The new version requires Android 4.0.

Quote:
“Dear Outlook.com customer,
On January 29, 2015, we released a new Outlook for Android app to replace the old Outlook.com Android app.
Shortly, on July 31, we’ll end support for the older Outlook.com Android app.
To avoid service disruptions, we recommend the following:

• Devices with Android 4.0 or greater (most common)—upgrade to the new Outlook mobile app. It’s free, easy to set up, and works with most popular email services (Outlook.com, Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and more). You can download the new app on Google Play.
• Devices with older versions of Android, below 4.0—the new Outlook app requires that your device is running at least Android 4.0. You can continue to receive your email on your device’s browser by navigating to www.outlook.com. You can also add your @outlook.com address to your device’s pre-installed email app. This process varies depending on the device and OS you’re using, but start by navigating to the “Settings” menu and then select “Accounts.”

Thanks for being a great customer.”

The new Outlook app is dreadful compared with the old more basic app, you can't download attachments to your phone, you can't attach files on your phone to an email and it uses data downloading an email every time you open it, it also cuts off parts of larger emails so you can't see all of it. Fortunately the ludicrous filter which decides which it thinks are the most important emails can be switched off.
The older, simpler more basic app was much better in my opinion.
