Aretha & Patti - outstanding singers with heaps of great catalogue and some not so hot.
Whitney - again great singer but not that music of what she released did much for me beyond her initial work. She quickly became a pop artist. I prefer her mum's recordings by far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuvLR_ZZyak Mariah - like Whitney, I liked 'Vision of Love' but quickly lost interest. Tina Turner - some great stuff with Ike. Patchy seventies solo output. Eighties on: avoid. Celine - Nope. Nothing happening for me. Plenty of slightly less well-known singers are right up there with these ladies. |
