Alya's indiscretion with Jason will be an interesting plot line if they Coronatin St fill it out

A Muslim girl who has just lost her dad in the programme, is so angry hurt and in grief that she asks for a glass of wine, then goes and gets drunk with Jason and then sleeps with him.

Then is consumed with guilt as she should be as Ramadam is just beginning and this is a time of cleansing and renewal

Jason said that God or Allah would forgive her but she may not be able to forgive herself

The matter will get complicated if she falls pregnant and it will be interesting to see how that is played out

A Muslim girl who in a fit of pique drinks, sleeps with a man before marriage and falls potentially pregnant and letting her family down

It would be a lot more interesting if said Muslim girl was played by a convincing actress but sadly Alya's big storyline has not brought out the best in Sair Khan yet imo!!

Haha!!! She does have OUTSTANDING hair...she can't act for toffee though bless her.

I can't stand any of the Nazirs they really do need writing out and banishing from memory forever.

I think her acting is perfectly fine. There are far worse actors than her even ones with much more experience.

It would be more interesting if she is perfectly okay with what she has done and stops conforming to medieval ideals.

I'd rather see her get an sti and then feel guilty as sin for 'letting herself down'

Oh FFS please don't tell me she's gonna get preggers and accept Gazzas marriage proposal to save herself the shame of having a baby out of wedlock.

Gazza will no doubt find out and beat Jases face in with a tyre iron out of Kevs garage (or something equally as dull), by which point Jase and Eva will be back together and all loved up so the fall out will hit them twice as hard.

First of all, how many people in real life do grieve for the death of a relative by having casual sex? Regardless, it feels like a soap staple and a crap one at that.

However in this particular case, it's even more infuriating as Alya showed no sign of being interested in Jason whatsoever until he was conveniently in the Bistro to save her from...a guy who was only trying his luck. I can't even remember Alya and Jason having many scenes at all together until the end of last week. I'm only partially joking when I say Kirk would have been a better choice than Jason. At least Alya would have regularly interacted with him at the factory and one of the reasons she supposedly wanted a bit of Jason was because he is nice, like Kirk. If the truth came out (ha, "if") about Kirk and Alya, it would also have ramifications for his relationship with Beth.

The death of Kal should have been seen as an opportunity to start again with the Nazirs but it seems TPTB at Corrie are wasting no time in trying to execute stories that are even worse than the ones when Kal was still around.

Agreed! If I had lost a close relative / friend, the last thing on my mind would be sex, even if drunk.

I didn't even see it as that; it was merely an attempt at a witticism which just didn't work. She then went into a ludicrous tirade merely to advance the plot. He was the one who needed rescuing .... from a mad female.

I'd actually welcome this. It would be an original and interesting storyline IMO. Not sure if the actress is good enough though!!

That is missing the point of my thread. The medieval ideas as you put them are the ones that she has Let us respect that. From Christians and Muslims if that is the point of view that they havelet us then respect it even though it may not be what one belivies

Surely if she were that bothered about respecting her religion she wouldn't have gone against her entire family and continued dating a violent criminal like Gary Windass?

Why is Alya the one feeling really guilty about her religion, but not Kal? He was having sex outside of marriage and he didn't give a crap. Wasn't he meant to be just as religious as Alya?

For him to be shagging Leanne whilst berating his daughter about her choice of man being unsuitable for being outside their religion was pretty hypocritical, he'd be spinning in his grave if he knew about Jason!

I sincerely hope Alya doesn't get pregnant, a) the street does not need anymore babies / pregnancies and b) it would probably be the end of Jason and Eva, they are fabulous together, Corrie would be an idiot to mess them up.

That reminds me when Natalie Barnes had sex with Des's brother after he died years and years ago. Totally unbelievable.

Yes it was unbelievable but fit of piques and then regret and remorse follow after.

A few years ago Easteenders did storyline where a character was gay and it explored how the Muslim community dealth with that. I did not see the storyline and how it panned out but it would be good to hear from Muslims on the site to see how Ayla's issue would be handled and seen

You have to consider the grandparents and how they are going to react when and if they find out. Their "golden girl " has fallen and the implications of this

The storyline you are referring to was handled horrendously by EE. The initial fallout was fine, the shame on the family etc, then the campaign of hate from his family and their friends, the absolute disgust of his mother who never relented in letting him know how disappointed she was.......then within one episode, she had forgiven him and his slimeball boyfriend, and was sat snuggled up on the couch, rubbing the boyfriends feet and watching a rom com in fits of laughter.

Totally unrealistic.

i think Sair Khan is slowly proving herself to be a capable actress now she's actually being given something to do. My quams with her were to do with Alya being a bit of a useless character, I never judged her acting because she didn't really have to act much!
