Cristian - More To Him Than Just A Change In Personality

Despite Cristian's recent personality transplant, I'm still finding him the nicest and the most interesting. He was my favourite previously...I thought he was really nice, genuine, he could argue in a calm way without resorting to screaming and shouting his head off. He was the only one willing to give Marc a chance on the night Marc entered, he was the only one to try and calm things down during the debate task. When he had a sudden change in personality last week, I was a bit shocked and immediately went off him. However, looking into things a bit deeper, I think I can understand why. For a start the boy is only 20 years old and it's very obvious that he's confused and still finding himself and discovering who he is. From the day he entered that house the housemates have constantly deemed him boring and with no personality, and when Marc entered this was reinforced even more. When you're beaten down that much, sooner or later you're going to explode. I think his change of personality was down to the time machine task and what was said to him about him needing to come out of his shell and to show himself more. Factor into it as well the fact that it seems as if he hasn't ever really seen the show properly before...I genuinely don't think he has any idea how the public view things and that if you're not screaming and shouting, the public deem you dull (they shouldn't).

In the past week I admit some of the things that he has said and done have been a bit cringe, but I feel a bit sorry for him. I think that the real Cristian is the one that we saw during the first five weeks...a genuinely nice guy. I think the Cristian we're seeing at the moment is someone who is just very confused and still finding himself. He's trying to act bad and trying to be a bit more loud and horrible but it's not working and is coming across a bit cringe...the reason being in my opinion because he isn't bad and because he isn't horrible. I also found it very telling that he didn't nominate Joel this week...I think that's what people thought he would do (even Joel himself), but deep down behind Cristian's current façade, I believe that he likes Joel and really values him which is why he didn't go ahead and do it. There's no doubt about it that Cristian wants to win...but then so do all of them...they are all just going about playing it in a different way. I expect the usual bunch of Cristian haters to reply and start ripping him to pieces. This is my view on him anyway...I just think there's a lot more to him than just a "boring boy with no personality" who is "being fake". I went off him briefly during his change in personality, but after looking into it and thinking about it all a bit more, I still like him and want him to win.

More to him than a change of personality. You are so right, there is also a change of underwear.

As I expected, such a mature response.

He has been my favourite from early on for many of the reasons you list.

He's really come out of his shell lately and been attacked for it. I haven't gone off him at all (certainly not for the way he speaks) - it seems to me that this is the main reason people go after him. I could cite many reasons for the way he speaks but I've done it to death elsewhere.

Surely the main thng is what he says and not how he says it isn't it?

He has strong principles and he stands by them - he doesn't waver.

It has to be done:

Change of accent. His Ali G voice is now so pronounced that I instantly start laughing whenever he speaks.

I like this new moody, sulky Cristian though. Can't call him boring now, can we?

He's still my favourite although he has been getting on my nerves a bit lately. I think he's getting a bit paranoid and over sensitive. Mind you, the way he has been treated, who can blame him!

I agree with this. A lot of the stuff he has came out with is correct, he's just not the best at articulating himself. He's only 20 though. He's been ridiculed for everything from the way that he speaks, to the job that he does/wants to do, down to the fact that he doesn't talk about sexual relationships very often. When I was 20 I didn't have everything sorted, I didn't know who I was. The majority of people don't. I just think that he's a genuinely nice guy at heart who is confused and is currently giving us what eh thinks we want to see. I think the real Cristian is the nice guy we saw in the first five weeks...but he has been nominated and constantly picked on because of this...hence him trying to change into this loud, horrible person. And the reason why I think he's coming across a bit cringe? Because deep down, he actually is a nice guy. He can't do horrible and loud.

You are totally entitled to your opinion as we all are and we all see things differently it seems but try as I might I cannot find any redeeming features in Cristian. I think that he is sly and manipulative and will do anything to turn things on others than be in the firing line himself. If it was just game playing I wouldn't mind so much but I get the impression he would sell any of his friends down the river to get ahead himself. I liked him early on but then went off him for trying to sail under the radar and then he went the other way by being a turncoat and running to Brian to tell tales about Jade and then also running to Helen to tell her Jade was in bed with Brian. Hence them nominating Jade for eviction last week. Even Helen said afterwards that they made a mistake nominating Jade and she has since seen through Cristian and realises that he has been behind the stirring!

Plus the rumours that Cristian has not done the things he said he has on the outside is also very dubious. I really don't think we know the real Cristian and this is the reason I dislike him.

He is just as much a gossip and stirrer as all the others in there. On last nights show when Harry had made her noms he immediately started to biatch to Nick about her reasons. So what no way was he bothered that she nommed Simon or why. He was just miffed because she was honest enough to say that the 2 people who she would have nommed included him.
He's a stirrer, gossip and a rubbish game player. A classic radar dodger who when told that he's not performing ups his game but in such a negative way that he has no chance of winning over the public.

The real Cristian is the same as he's always been. He's principled - he sticks by his principles. He is twenty - sometimes he speaks like he does when he's with his mates - sometimes it's a bit different to how he probably speaks amongst adults or others outside his group of friends.

Far too much store is put by how he speaks and not what he says.

Apart from anything else - his father is Indian - he has been raised (I assume) by a father with an accent - he has moved around the country. It's not as straightforward as people like to paint it. and ......at the end of the day - it doesn't matter.

His stance on things hasn't changed - he has been consistent in his behaviour. From very early on (with Sara and Harriet) he stood up for himself and defended his corner - admittedly it was 'quieter' but he did it. He has been forced to 'up it' - a, because there are very vocal people in the house now and b. Because people have been telling him to.

It's madness to ask @who is the real Cristian' - he's the same one who walked through the door.

I still really like him, obviously that's hugely due to his (obvious) affection for Joel and their relationship. But I also still find him an extremely interesting and intriguing character.

- he needs to stop overthinking the gameplan stuff though and not get bogged down by Danny, Brian and Jack.

Well we will see Penny as time progresses won't we because I don't think he will go this week, of course that will depend on who is left up and if the so called legends get to save any of them! Like many others I was very disappointed how he acted towards Jade and turned turncoat against her when he was put up for eviction. I saw a side of him that I really disliked! This is the reason I personally don't think it's madness to ask 'who is the real Cristian'?

Exactly this, well said! I think that Cristian has such a massive ego that he cannot take any negative comment about himself, hence why he lost the plot when he was called boring! When he thinks he's in trouble he pushes anybody into the limelight who he thinks will take the heat off himself and doesn't care who it is. I personally think that his issue with Joel was because he knows he's well liked, especially by Marc and Helen and he doesn't like it, hence his rage about knowing 'who your friends are'. I think you are spot on when you say Cristian is a stirrer, gossip and a rubbish game player and as you say a classic radar dodger!

I will start out by saying I'm not a fan of Cristian but not a "hater" either though the "should have been in CBB" claim didn't help my initial opinion.

I think he's a wannabe (like many in the house admittedly) I feel he went in to raise his profile for his rapping.

However, as a "performer" and rapper, whilst there is no reason for him to put on an act in the house, I would have thought he would have some sort of dynamism or charisma. I cant even say he's a nice guy - he may well be but he's just coming across as meh!.

At one point I actually forgot he was in the house.

There just doesnt seem to be anything to him. He was happy to be a mini marc in the frat boy task, but he had no presecence or command

When he tries to make a point he has no eloquence and struggles to express himself (again surprising if he wants to be a rapper as words are their tools)

And yes, the accent anoys me - he may well have a valid reason to speak that way but it just comes across as tragic. It doesn't suit his look or manerisms so appears false which is unfortunate if its not.

Suddenly finding a voice when nominated smacks of desperation - again it may just be being peed off at being called boring but it just appears he is trying to be Marc again and again it doesn't suit him.

Is he a boring person - I really couldn't tell you but he doesnt set the world alight as a HM

I like Cristian less than I did, but still more than most of the others. With reference to his not nominating Joel, yes, it might have been because he likes Joel, but the more obvious explanation surely is that Cristian knew he was going to be up against whoever he nominated (and for all he knew, it might have been only the two of them), so he wasn't likely to choose someone he thought had a strong chance of beating him. That would have been sheer stupidity.

I've been a fan from the first week. His "journey" has gone exactly how I thought it would. I said he would come out of his shell as the numbers dwindled. Admittedly, he's been forced into it a tad because of all the constant knocks he's taken about being boring and having no personality, but I find it amusing that the likes of Helen and Marc can't see that he is playing them. It's a "You asked for it, so you'll get it" situation. They're just not happy because he's standing up to them and not under their thumbs like some others are. If he'd have come out and bowed down to their God-like status, they'd be loving him.

Cristian has always stood his ground in there and always voiced his opinions. He's never been afraid to go against the grain and have differing views on things to the majority in the house.

Yesterday's outburst at Harry was just a bit annoying, other than that he has been my favourite and I really hope he stops thinking about what other people think about him and just be the guy he has been...

I agree typical male pretty boy who is coasting along to the final on his looks alone & planting other housemates in the firing line to ensure his stay, So obvious. I would rather anyone won than Cristian or Danny! Even if its the lamp post outside at least we know its a lamp post & gives us light!

like ive said constantly people know the reasons they dont like christian but wont have the guts to admit. every year this forum seems to hate the same type of people and its the same pattern every year. people keep labelling him boring and say he barely talks but he was the first hm to have a row remember with sarah. he isnt the loudest hm but besides marc who is? most of the other hms do not talk as much but they are not critisised on here the same way christian is so i question that all the time. i keep hearing people taking the mick out of his accent in my opinion that shouldnt evan be allwed on ds, i mean would people be allwed to take the mick out of an indian contestants accent? all this bs about he has an ali g accent is pathatic, he speaks like how alot of young people in this country speak, its not called a ganster accent its called multicural english accent ive provided lots of links but people keep ignoring it as it doesnt suit their agenda. why hate a hm for being boring but not hate another hm for being almost exactly the same. in my opinion many people in this country also have a big issue with white children who do anything that minics black culture and many of the comments ive seen on here about his accent and rapping are clearly borderline racism. i also think male hms that are considered attractive are hated far more easily than others on here.just my observation from being on here every year.
