What do Marc's fans think of his repsonse to the lady suffering from cancer.

Genuinely, interested to know what you think and it's not a cheap point scoring or being deliberately provocative, unlike Marc himself.

Don't see ANY of Marc fans in this thread responding to the article.

Like to see their opinions on this.”

To start with, I have had cancer and I can understand where Marc is coming from with this. By all means try and cure yourself by natural means if that's what you want to do, but don't go on tv and try and foist it on others, that may be scared and looking for a good excuse not to go through the medical treatment, as you stand a good chance of killing them because they didn't have the treatment that could have saved their lives. No, he shouldn't have said that about hoping that they get cancer (although they actually had it anyway, so it was a bit of a pointless insult) but that to me doesn't look like a whole conversation, it looks more like bits and pieces of one, I'd be willing to bet that there were whole chunks that were left out of that, it doesn't have a proper flow to it. My mother was one that listened to rubbish like that girl was peddling (I saw the interview) and refused chemo and tried the natural path, and died. I took the chemo and survived (14 years ago). Yes there are a few that manage to beat it naturally, but "few" is the operative word, that girl is endangering other people's lives and doesn't seem to get it. Neither you nor I know if Marc was speaking with his science head on, or if he had other reasons for getting so upset about it

He has just completed a degree in science, as has many 21 year olds studying in the same university, as have tens of thousands in various colleges in Ireland - they are not all scientists, so why does he think he can convince people that a degree in science equals being a scientist?
Does a degree in philosophy make someone a philosopher, a degree in economics make someone an economist etc...?
He is looking to get work in a pharmaceutical company once he graduates - this does still not make him a scientist.

That is the point. He is NOT a doctor, MD or otherwise & was, as you and I, are giving our opinion.

I am genuinely sorry for all you have gone through, I lost my very young sister to ovarian cancer and whilst I would never, ever know what you have gone through, I can only genuinely sympathise and offer my own experience. I went with Annabel to all her chemo appointments and they were gruelling for her.

Marc is a lab technican and is no more a doctor than you or I so his remarks to that woman were at best ill adivsed. Seems to follow a pattern for him.

I doubt even sweet_princess can pull out a crazy excuse for this one.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, it's hard to lose anyone to that disease. In answer to the rest of your post, whether or not Marc, you or I are are doctors, surely we all know that what that girl is doing is dangerous, we all know he doesn't go about things in the right way, but IMO his thoughts were right in this case. Neither of us know why he got so heated about it, he could have perfectly valid reasons. This really shouldn't be dragged into BB as it's nothing to do with BB, and we only have one side of it and don't know if she posted the whole thing, or just bits and pieces of it.

I'm still at a loss as to what perfectly valid reasons for wishing a cancer victim to get cancer might be.

2nd bib: Ah that would apply to things like Jack's twitter account contents, then?

To the first bit, I have already given my thoughts on that, if that's not good enough for you then there's not much else I can say on the subject.

To the second point, I quite agree.

First BIB There is no way that someone on TV is going to influence something as critical as what treatment people choose to have for cancer. Her advocacy of good diet choice (along with treatment) should be considered though.

Second BIB I'm sorry about your mother , though many choose not to take the harsh treatment of chemotherapy for many reasons. Both my parents died quite young from cancer and took treatment which they admitted(after the fact) just made them sicker for the little time it afforded them.

It's not that uncommon that people choose not to take treatment for something - especially as it is not a cure for that particular illness. Whether I agree or not with that woman's decisions, Marc's decision to challenge her, in the disingenuous (and public) way he did was horrible.
