Advice on new Humax

I've decided that it's time my 9200 went. It's got very slow nowadays. Thus I am looking at the HDR-2000T. I like the Humax skip a minute, back 15 seconds which I can do on my 9200. However I also wish to transfer recordings to my PC, which I have been able to do with the 9200. I read that the 2000T has ethernet and usb connections. Can I upload via ethernet using the 2000T as part of my home network? Can I transfer to a USB stick which I can plug into the PC? I do understand that if this can be done it might not be possible to do it with HD recordings because of rights issues although I have seen mention of, ahem, methods.

I've only seen mention of BBC iplayer. Are there no facilities for ITV, Ch4 and 5? I've also seen something about Utube - does this mean I can access Utube on it? What about other internet sources?

All advice and answers would be most gratefully received.

The thing you need to understand is that all recordings (both SD and HD) are encrypted on the current Humax recorders. SD recordings can be decrypted by copying to an attached USB storage device. HD recordings need to have the .hmt file "adjusted" by the Foxy utility to make them capable of decryption. Once decrypted then recordings can be moved from or onto the Humax using an FTP client. You can also play recordings on any device that can provide a DLNA client (PC, tablet, smart phone) via the built in DLNA server.

Your understanding is correct BBC iPlayer is present but no other TV players. UTube is available and a few other odds and ends but nothing really significant. The alternative in the Humax range is the YouView boxes which have a much wider range of players but do have other limitations; eg you can't copy content from them in any way; whatever you do, don't get one of the first generation Humax YouView boxes (DTR-1000.etc) which appear to have very poor reliability. The later DTR-2000 boxes so far appear to be more reliable and much more responsive because they have a faster processor.

For what its worth we have an HDR-2000T and are happy with it.
