What were the Weirdest Soap Storylines of all time
When we watch soaps we wait for a great storyline But also we have storylines that were so out of this world and so weird it is untrue My selections are
Jai not recognising his own Son in Emmerdale The storyline where a Cult called the Believers were brainwashing everyone in Home and Away |

HO
India shitting in the car (not really a storyline) Bombhead hiding his dead mum. Probably the worst soap story ever. Jesus in the potato Dodger going on the run for no reason at all since he hadn't done anything wrong, and neither had his daughter whom he was protecting. Elliot and the alien-abducted father Sienna abducting everyone/trying to marry her brother Texas/Dodger/Will. Weirdest love triangle ever. |

I'm only 47, so I don't know about all time, but the Ryan baby switch on Corrie wasn't very well executed

Back in those dark days of 2004, EastEnders ran a storyline about the death of a WW2 veteran called Jack, who had apparently lived in Walford all his life but we'd never seen him. Sonia went around preaching to the whole Square about how important it was to remember him. We even had a whole episode devoted to Jack's funeral. Bizarre.

So many in HO.
Lisa becoming a prostitute out of nowhere. Stephs quest for fame and inheriting a donkey. The Potato. Myras tribute after her fake death. The fake death of Jacqui with real dead body. Mercedes held captive by rabid dogs. The fact that 3 McQueens faked their deaths. Everything involving The Savages from the day of that stupid festival until the day of Wills death. Mercedes in a dungeon. Nancy/Ravi/Kris 3 way relationship. The lawnmower race. Carmel becomes a cheerleading instructor. Fake priest cons Carmel. Texas and Mandy sell Cindy fake art, lose a snake (otherwise known as Sarah Dunn is contracted for x episodes and wants to leave so lets burn off her contract with anything). |

I remember a couple of years ago a random French preist turned up in EE, I can't remember what plot device he was used for (something with Dot I think) but lets say it was very Allo Allo given the actor wasn't French and had a poor accent. I think Abi even had to give him a "tour" of Walford or something ridiculous.
I just remember being worried he was new addition to the cast given his prominence in a couple of episodes. |

Also, although not exactly a storyline, Bouncers dream The weirdest story for me was when Victoria in Emmerdale (the previous red-headed one) lost her voice/went dumb through a trauma (I can't remember why) and she only communicated through a ventriloquist dummy. |

95% of the current Hollyoaks storylines qualify as weird. Not that Bryan Kirkwood is smart enough to do that intentionally, rather due to his mindless and scatterbrained ideas.
On Neighbours I found Ruby Dwyer's gambling story really odd. |

I can't believe this threads lasted 20 posts without a mention of Pam Uwin dreaming an entire year of Dallas and waking up to find Bobby Uwin in the shower

The only UK one from years back has to be dear ATV's Crossroads - with witchcraft, ghost stories, Amy Turtle being accused of being a Russian spy, and dopey Benny becoming psychic! |
