Is "thinkpiece" a word you just made up, or one I haven't heard before?

Assuming that is to me -- yes, it is one of my more contrafibularious creations.

It's a well-established phrase. A google search yields 400,000 results for it, including some dictionary definitions. It dates back to 1916.

It's time for an extended break for the Last Leg.

It's always been a bit hit and miss and sadly it's now mostly miss.

They need a long gap and a re-think to see if they can re-capture the original spirit, or retire it gracefully.

I can see a tribute to Carrie Fisher on the first episode back considering she seemed to be a somewhat 'friend' of the show.

Wishing her well was one of Adam's last words of the series. They must be so upset

They seemed to start to struggle for content a bit once the U.S. election was over and Trump pretty much went quiet, and Brexit just rumbled on with nothing much happening. There was no obvious target besides reheating previous targets.

I was surprised when they started a full new series straight after the Paralympics. They should have had a break after that. They seem to have toned down the ranting a bit and are trying to be more even-handed but they seem to have lost their edge as a result. I think it was a mistake to extend the show to 60 mins from the original 45. Maybe a long break then back to 45 mins?

It will need more of a re-vamp than that. It's all got rather embarrassing to be honest. The three participants must know that though surely?

I'm not sure it will get re-commissioned at all. It's had a decent run.

Well, it's definitely confirmed to be returning in January. They said that on air. The ratings are still really good for a Friday 10pm Channel 4 show.

Oh dear, if that is true, it's a big mistake. High degree of probability that it will continue to go down hill and become a laughing stock. Hopefully they will re-think that.

IIRC C4 has said it'll be on 40 weeks per year so flogged to death much like other stuff - Come Dine, Big Bang, friends etc..

Its cheap telly - though 40 weeks sounds an awful lot for both audience and the performers.

Ahem...

Broadcast are today reporting that BBC1 are bringing back Let's Dance For Comic Relief and this time it will include singing as well (of course it will!) so will be called "Let's Sing and Dance For Comic Relief."

Also Channel 4 have upped its commitment to The Last Leg to 40 hours per year. Never like to overexpose their shows, C4, do they.
I'm not sure it will get re-commissioned at all.
Any more predictions?!
