Good episode, not as good as last week but still funnier than Would I Lie To You and 8/10 Cats Does Countdown this evening, I particularly liked the "following someone we hate with a brass instrument" section and the stuff with the cat was funny, but I wasn't as massive fan of John Cleese this evening. Better than Jason Manford last week, but not much better, and not much funnier. There are plenty of good comedians out there they could book- why don't they get Jack Whiteall or Hugh Dennis on?

Best episode I've see of the Last Leg in a long while. John Cleese looked like he was enjoying himself and his cat was cute.

John Cleese looked a bit upset at the end, I don't think he will be back next week.

I am not sure that it was part of the 'act' as do the guest come on to promote something? If it was an act is was very good.

I am not a fan of Cleese but he was quite funny and how well behaved was his cat

Really love this show.

The whole book thing and his looking upset was definitely an act, the show ended with a pre recorded scetch with Alex in a bra and John Cleese holding up his book to try and promote it, then Josh stole the book from his hand and then John chasing him through the studio.

I did see that bit

I didn't think he contributed much, to be honest, but it was good to see him laughing. Overall it was the best episode for me for a long time. Part of that was the recent news presenting some safe and/or easy targets, and part was just the wit. Some of the jokes were near the knuckle without being malicious; their dealing with adult topics without being offensive was what made the show great from the beginning.

I can imagine it was done that way to create a fuss in the Twattersphere by gullibles who thought it was real.

The show was good, Adam Hills was more interested in the Lord Sewell or Cecil story than anything else this week.

Just because both stories gave easy laughs, they know that Syria and Libya are political minefields and there is not a lot of humour to be found there. John Cleese hit the nail on the head, people are told that a lion or sex scandal story has more prominence than a lot of dead foreigners.

Adam Hills ought remember that Australia has bad race issues also - dead Aboriginals in police custody being just one of them and Australia is 10% of the population of the USA.

Picking easy targets is like shooting fish in a barrel, saying that America doesn't care about the death of black people is stupid and Ill-informed, it makes national news headlines for all the right reasons, in countries like Russia hate crimes would certainly not receive the same scrutiny.

I loved his cat.
I was also impressed with how well behaved it was, if that was any of my 3 cats I couldn't see them behaving as calmly as his.

Last night's ep was one of the best - really sharp, biting humour. Tubular Bellend is the best name ever! Even Cleese, who can be a tubular bellend at times, was a great sport and really seemed to appreciate what the show was about.

Yeh he even tweeted afterwards what a great show it was and praised Adam Hills. 😊

Any idea what breed of cat it was?

It may not actually be his cat. A quick google on the topic suggests he got a bit of social media trouble for saying Taylor Swift's cat looked weird on a chat show (Swift's cat is a particular breed which was created for appearance, which led to a lot of cats of that breed being born with congenital issues, so it does look odd and they're rather frowned upon now by cat breeders), it may just be something to do with that.

I think he's got over taking himself too seriously.

I don't know what to make of some of the posts on here who clearly missed the point of the show. I'm imagining what it must be like to meet the people in real life who totally missed the joke. *cringe*

I could see the joke coming from the start when Adam kept promising to get to Cleese's book later in the show.

You could see it coming after the second time he said it.

I wondered if someone let helium off in the studio in the first part of the show. Their voices were so high and almost squeaky.

It was pretty obvious it was going to be a running gag throughout the show. Then when he said it a 2nd time you knew something was going to happen with Cleese going into a huff or whatever.

Tonight might be fun. It's an hour and ten minutes long and Twitter has exploded over the cricket under the hashtag of #isitok

I'd imagine the number 60 might feature prominently...

Most, if not all of the current series has been that time.

Snap! Listening to the intro just now I thought what a brilliant choice they made.
