Lovely sound . I've never heard of a vibraphone before.
I used to play the xylophone at school, but it was hard enough with one mallet in each hand

You wouldn't think that so much emotion could be produced with mallets, would you?

The vibraphone has been around since the late 1920s, particularly in jazz. There are tubes below each of the keys, under which there are electric fans, which give the sound a vibrato effect.

There is also a foot operated damping system similar to that of a piano

The most famous jazz vibraphonist is probably the "big band" leader, Lionel Hampton.

It's quite versatile. Good for "up tempo" tunes.
