That is not fair, Ross and Donna oozed chemistry, one of the best pairings I've seen in years. If Kate Oates were thinking she could have turned those two into a super couple like the US soaps used to have in the 80's.
Well Ross and Donna oozed something but I think it was brown and smelled a lot.

In the sun while the Brown stuff smelled even worse

Analysis Of Emmerdale Characters

Firstly Kate Oates is off to plagiarize horror movies to her hearts content and possibly save Corrie from Dooom and we are left with some useless lump from Hollyoaks. here purely to make sure Emmerdale never again threatens Eastenders ratings.

1) eric - Eric you annoying red Tomato stop shouting at Chrissie or I will inform on you to Hotten Police for your own responsibilty for Vals Death.

2) David Dearie no Jury in the land would convict Chrissie of Manslaughter or anysuch crime because no way did she mean to kill anyone, get out of my sight in Portugal

3) The Lovely Tearful but better at Crying than when she started Chrissie is back and still being manaced by Village idiots at least she kicked out Robert

4) Robert did a valient job in defending Chrissie against the Lynch Mob, saved her from Eric then got kicked out.

5) Vanessa do you remember you have a new born in hospital, instead of trying to arrange date, girly nights out and getting drunk go see your son

6) Carly - might have guessed she would like rugby

7) Belle you look very nice but never take advice from Chas about men thats just stupid and I liked her dig about Chas and Debbie being easy.

8) Kirin look after Belle would you and don't reapeat don't get her pregnant

9) Chas dear you advice is terrible no wonder you date so amny murderers

10 Debbie stay away from anyone with B in their Surname.

11) Pete starting to play Ross's game and getting the Annulment

12) Dross - the least said about him the better

13) Granny Barton is sick, sorry its time for the Barton actors to go on their summer hols

14) The Village idiots appeared to de trying to drum up a lynch mobs the dumb fools..

I honestly thought Ross was in love with Debbie.

yes, I did.

But that look on his face last night when he went to Pete's car and Pete said 'you are welcome to her, I'm well out of it' -

Ross's facial expression was all 'wot? You mean I've gone to all this trouble of taking her from you and you don't want her?'
Mike Parr's acting is great, he can act with his eyes - like Jeff Hordley can.
That scene was good.

So, Deadpan Debbie won't need to make up her mind over which one she wants because it's looking like Ross will dump her now he knows Pete doesn't want her any more.

What will this mean for Emmerdale?????

I"ain MacLeod takes the helm at Emmerdale at the end of the year and initially will inherit a raft of storylines courtesy of outgoing Producer Kate. Raised in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Iain studied Psychology at Manchester University before training as a journalist. From journalism he made the switch to a career in television.

Iain moves to Emmerdale from his position as Series Producer at Hollyoaks, a role he has held since 2013. A former Coronation Street researcher and Story Editor from July 2009 until 2013, Iain has previously worked on some of Corrie’s most momentous storylines including the death of iconic character Jack Duckworth, the 50th anniversary tram crash and the rape of Carla Connor. Iain left Coronation Street in 2013 to join Hollyoaks and was promoted to Series Producer shortly afterwards.

"Taking the reins of a programme in such rude health is both highly exciting and a mouth-watering challenge, and I could not be more delighted to be tasked with taking Emmerdale forward,” said Iain. “To work on a show with such pedigree, such brilliant characters and storytelling, and with such a talented team already in place is a dream for anyone in my line of work and I can't wait to get cracking."

Commented John:

“When Iain left ITV in 2013 we knew one day he would be back to run one of our shows. With a strong story head and an innate feel for what makes soaps tick, Iain will be a brilliant next Producer of Emmerdale. He inherits a great team and a great show, both of which he will nurture and have fun with when he joins the team at the end of the year.”

I absolutely dread to think.

ED is such a great little show. Great cast, established characters who work well together. It has its own ecosystem.

HO is a weird cringey hospital-based panto for kids with short attention spans where no relationship lasts longer than 2 hours.

I'm not optimistic.

Probably failing ratings and the axe, which would suit ITV to the ground, so they can concentrate on their pet soap. Hopefully I am wrong, but it does not look good.

Ha - isn't that what ED has become under KO
There's nary a week goes by without someone in a hospital scene!

Well, there's some truth in that. There's definitely been some Hollyoaks-ish elements recently.

But if you think emmerdale is bad now, just wait until Mr HO takes over. Literally nothing will make sense any more.

If I weren't already worried that Emmerdale's focus on crime and hospital visits is changing what it once was a year ago, I certainly am now.

I assume this is what itv wants, with all the Robron tweens on twitter, to turn Emmerdale into the new tween soap.

I'm not happy about this! I have a horrible feeling that he will completely ruin ED.

Meh I don't think anyone can really judge until at least a couple of months into his stint as EP

It was obvious Kate was going to be leaving soon anyway

Anyone think Granny Barton will show up in the village? They've been mentioning her a lot and with the loss of Betty and Val the show could use another older female character.

Charity will be out of jail soon, then we can have another groundbreaking incestuous triangle story with Debbie threatening to shoot both of them.

Oh I don't know about that. There is definitely the usual twitter audience for that thing, but ED's core audience is much older. If they play up that stuff too much, it could haemorrage viewers. I don't think they can risk it.

I guess we'll find out.

eta: I was just going to say though, I do kind of agree that the show has gone downhill in the last year. There have been some highpoints (Laurel/Alicia), and the scripts are still sharp and funny, and the cast are mostly great, but some of the storylines recently haven't been very good.

Willing to give the new bloke a chance. At least it isnt Kirkwood.
Fed up of seeing that Corrie live episode advert. Would it be too much to give Emmerdale some promo?

I pray the new guy doesn't fill the village with southerners in an attempt to make it Eastenders-Lite. The amount of cockney accents in Cheshire based HO is ridiculous.

And if even one bloody Roscoe shows up, I'll put my foot through my telly and send the bill to David Cameron!

Mine too, perhaps Ian will surprise us all and be truly excellent.

I think the pandering to that twitter audience is getting a little bit beyond ridiculous now though, what with the who shot Robert plot which was surely originally planned as a who killed Robert plot just so they can shove the epic love that is Robron down our throats. Even going so far as to turn Chrissie into the village villain so that Robert is seen as the good guy.

Every story aside from Alicia and Laurel this year has been awful.

Listen, I'm as Robron-phobic as the next fella, but we don't know what'll happen. I'm sure the show likes the twitter buzz, but I'm equally sure they know they're walking a fine line with Robert really. He's a great villain and there's a whole bunch of the audience aren't that interested in his sex life, just how badly he behaves. I really doubt they'll having him coming over all pathetic and lovestruck. They tried that with Ross and it hasn't exactly worked.

Anyway, I'm going to wait and see. I've survived the crap that is Dross, I can survive flaming Robron, even if it is with the mute button handy.

I wish there were some better stories around. I feel like they really got lost with this helicopter gubbins. But I'm looking forward to the Andy/Robert reveal more than you are, I'm guessing. I think that's a cracker. And NO WAY will Robert look like the good guy when that comes out.

I shall try to remain positive. At some point it must come to an end. I shall continue to look forward to that point. It seems that Ross is done with Debbie now that Pete says he doesn't want her.

It's just a shame Finn has gone to look after Nana Barton.

Must keep reminding myself that Nikhil is coming back, nice characters incoming!

So long as Robert doesn't get away with making Katie's death look like an accident that he accidentally covered up, that should do me.

But it WAS an accident that he deliberately covered up
