How is it possible that 6 or 7 people from the same village are on the same stretch of a motorway/road at the same time? At least with Corrie the scene was believable, a nutter with a suicide mission. I also felt Emmerdale so far made a really good job of the dementia story line but the crash negates everything good about the dementia coverage. Only saying.

It wasn't realistic but it was gripping. I don't t think they've negated the dementia story as yet, let's s see how it plays out. As it is, Ashley would drive erratically. I think it depends where they go with his story from now on. If they turn it into a crappy legal/ courtroom drama thing then they' ll ruin it but if they show Ashley struggling with guilt and trying to remember events clearly, that could be very poignant. Here's hoping

You make a good point. In yesterday's episode I thought he was going to say something about seeing Emma and James on the bridge. Hope it comes to him at the funeral with it is shown in the next episode.

I got the impression it's one of main roads to the village, so it's not that unlikely. It's far more likely then a village where tragic events happen every October, and half the village has either killed or tried to kill someone anyway

I actually thought that was somewhat realistic as the dual carriageway was obviously in the vicinity of the village. It was the idea that there would be such a massive crash and they would all be involved that took it to an unrealistic level and the idea that it was caused by someone pushing their fiance over the side of a bridge onto this road whilst dressed in their wedding dress which took it to another level of unrealistic

To be fair both Corrie and Emmerdale are up to their necks in flights of fantasy and lacking in any realism so it just comes down to what is more enjoyable and Emmerdale wins that hands down for me. I loved this week

Love the idiom 'flights of fantasy'. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. For me Corrie wins the battle.

For Anna getting set on fire corrie wins it for me aswell in the sense that it was a horrific disturbing scene and totally unexpected.

Emmerdale had brilliant acting but I laughed at loads of it but I was in horror at Anna

If I was them, I'd negotiate my contracts to end in between December and August, don't want to have a contract expiring anywhere near October, it could be dangerous

Carl should never have been killed off.

That was scary. I can't even imagine what it would be like to get caught up in a fire. I don't even use a chip pan or a toaster after a bad experience.

I burned my arm once and the pain was indescribable. I can't and don't want to imagine the pain on a whole body being set on fire

Is it wrong that I laughed when that chicken walked in front of Ashley as he was lying in the car?

Well, I utterly loathed the nonsense of this week's Emmerdale.

Please may we have a return to sanity soon - and less of the sort of headline-seeking rubbish which was presented this week.

Because its the Bypass, they only mentioned it about five times to make the point about why people would be on the road. It's no more of a coincidence than them all being in the middle of Emmerdale when there's a gas explosion or a plane falling out of the sky on top of the village.
It's a soap coincidence

Ahh yes - its the bypass - the bypass to what
Emmerdale doesn't have a major trunk road running through - therefore no need for it to have any kind of bypass

Didn't Rhona say that the camp site was just off the Hotton bypass, when she rang Barton's Taxis for lift home?

Ahh, that would explain it - half the village on the bypass of a large town miles away, at the same time.
How fortunate for the storytellers

When/why did they turn Chrissie into such a cold hearted bitch? Was it the new producer? She could be bitchy when she was with Robert but once they split up, she was turning it around and became very likeable and a character I rooted for.

Can't stand her now, though. Made her the typical rich bitch that we always get in soap. I find it such a shame that the new producer has decided to take this route with her.
