That reminds me of me a couple of years ago.
I'd been a HO viewer but it just got so bad, and when I got back into ED with the Cameron storyline, I was all OH MY GOD THIS IS FLAMING BRILLIANT THERE ARE ACTUAL STORIES AND THEY CAN ACTUALLY ACT I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!!I think I'm over my honeymoon period, because these Ross/Debbie and Robert/Aaron stories have been severely trying my patience. But generally I think it's a great ensemble cast, with really well-established characters that work well together. It's just good to watch, most of the time. ![]() I used to love Hollyoaks back when Loui Batley and Gerard McCarthy were on the show, but right around the time that Sarah Barnes died the show got a bunch of newcomers who were very stiff and I just stopped watching and jumped to the village ![]() I know opinions on the cast of Emmerdale can vary quite a bit but I think everyone does a great job and I can enjoy the storylines without getting distracted by the performance of the actors. |

My point being - I don't think we'll see Robert in a relationship with a woman again (unless they put him back with Chrissie).
Calling a character bisexual is one thing - but when he is only really narratively shown to be in love with a guy - it becomes irrelevant what label the show decides to put on him. If they had shown more narrative depth to his relationship with Chrissie - and shown more of a conflict between his feelings for Chrissie and Aaron - the bisexual labelling of Robert would have held more narrative provenance. Let's be honest here - the show has done absolutely nothing narratively to make anyone care about his relationship with Chrissie - but have gone all out with all guns blazing to sell his relationship with Aaron. Just because the show's rhetoric spouts that he is "bisexual" doesn't make it believeable. The fanbase for Robert Sugden WANT him to be in a gay relationship - no-one is rooting for Robert to find "the woman of his dreams" And that is the narrative that the show has constantly pushed |

I like Robert but couldn't care less who he's in a relationship with, be it man, woman, animal or whatever.
The show is actively pursuing the fans who want to watch Robert Sugden as a gay character Look how many nominations he has in the Inside soap awards for his role as a "gay" character. Best shock twist - Robert & Aaron's affair Best affair - Robert & Aaron the magazine has even created a new category this year to cultivate the fandom Best partnership - Ryan Hawley & Danny Miller If that doesn't say it all what does - no nomination for the character with his on-screen wife - nope, it's the partnership with is gay lover that we're being asked to vote for. The show labels the character as a bisexual - but it's his activities as a "gay" character that gets all the promotion. |

Does a person need to love a man and a woman at the same time in order to be bisexual?

![]() But then, neither has the show. In much of the rhetoric & interviews, we have been told that Robert loves Chrissie - but the on-screen narrative has been incredibly weak on that part - but more importantly, Robert's love for Chrissie has never recieved anywhere near the amount of promotion or sales pitch that his relationship with Aaron has. The show labels the character as bisexual & creates a sensationalistic storyline out of it - but constantly promotes his activities as a gay character. The show has more interest in Robert now being a gay character - why? Because it taps into a cult m/m shipping audience worldwide and they can win a plethora of awards from that audience. |

Yes - and I dare say there are plenty like you - I think Robert is very watchable - but I'm not sure you'd ever class yourself as part of the Robert Sugden fanbase.

I'm certainly not one of the Twitter kids who thinks 'Robron' is an epic love story. |

I was under the impression his storyline with Katie was quite "epic" back in the day. So he did love a woman, just not Chrissie.
Also, I've seen people excited at the idea of a Robert and Carly romance. I just think it's the "angst" factor that draws them in, rather than the m/m aspect. |

But at least there was some chemistry and genuine sexual attraction between old Robert and Katie. There's none at all bteween this Robert and Chrissie. She's more like an older sister or even mother than his lover but then he's only with her for financial reasons. It will be better for the Chrissie character to be paired with someone else. Robert was a right old shagmiester in his day. Strange how he no longer seems to have any real interest in women anymore. |

I agree Chrissie more like Robert's mom or older sister that hug the other day was a like a mother comforting there child rather than lovers embracing. I think the reason Robert's not shown to have interest in women because they trying to sell Robert and Aaron a some epic love story/star crossed lovers, his supposed to love Chrissie but it comes more across as he doesn't love her really and is with her because of the superficial things e.g money and HF life his built up for himself |

Robert always wants the things he can't have. It's the challenge and playing with fire he loves not the person.
He wants to win at everything at whatever cost. He wanted Katie because she was with Andy. He wanted Chrissie because Lawrence didn't like him and didn't think he was good enough for his daughter. He wants Aaron because everyone is telling him to keep away. The more people tell him no the more he wants it. |

She had one when Andy was grieving over Katie - up at Home Farm. But apparently history has been forgotten.

Did someone ask if Laurel is pregnant?
I wouldn't be surprised. Kate Oates seems intent on creating characters for the future by bringing in lots of babies. I wouldn't be surprised if Victoria, Megan, Debbie and Moira are pregnant as well. In fact, why not have every egg producing female character in the show get pregnant now. How old is Harriet supposed to be? Ross could be the father of all of them. |

Never mind the handgun - I still would like to know what happened to the bullet? Is it still in Paddy's arm. Will Rhona suspect he has started self-harming when she sees the stitching?

![]() He later pretended he had scratched it on some barbed wire. I enjoyed the Paddy and Aaron scenes. I know that not all soap actors can be as skilled as Judi Dench, and because of that, I am still able to enjoy watching. Dominic Brunt and Danny Miller make me feel that they love each other like father and son. The actor playing Robert makes me feel he loves money and the power it brings him. He likes to control. I feel all of that. So I enjoyed their scenes. Unless I think the actor is SO dreadful that they spoil it for me I can still enjoy performances that aren't 100% amazing. Only really three currently make me unhappy to have to watch them, and that's the actors playing Jai, Adam and Ali. I'm thinking Ali might come a cropper in the August disaster thing, but I think Adam and Jai will be around for a long time. ![]() TBH, when Chris Bisson [Jai] is on, I am able to laugh at him because I think he is so rubbish. Adam, well, I think everyone knows what I think about that 'orrible oik. ![]() PS I am hoping Ali does get splattered and that Kate Oates decides to keep Ruby on and team her up with Vanessa. |

Has anyone heard if Chrissie's sister has been cast and if so when she might join the show?
I am very pleased to hear John Bowe is staying. I just want them to give him something good to do. |
