My immediate thoughts was Amy tbh. It'd affect Cain, Joanie, the Dingles probably what with their growing involvement with Kyle, Kerry, Eric etc.
Am hoping it will be Kathy who comes back as she knows most of the characters in the show.. |

I just want to stick up for the actress who plays Ruby here. Alicya Eyo who plays her is an extremely strong actress, she has just been vastly underused in Emmerdale unfortunately.
She was in Bad Girls, and had a very prominent part in that and if you watch that you'll see that the actress is very convincing and capable with really emotive scenes and storylines. Indeed, she had a story where she was reunited with her mum in prison (who now plays Joanie in ED) and both actresses put in brilliant performances. This time next week, if we find out that Alicya has more time on my hands, then so shall I. Emmerdale will disappear from my own viewing for the foreseeable future if Ruby and Nessa are no longer there.

Yea that's what I mean but was confused as Wyezed said it was just speculation but there is also quotes from the actor aswell
The rest of us non--soap-insider ordinary viewer plebs just go on what we read in the press. Some of which may be speculation, but these are obviously reports from press who've been invited to the screening and to interview the actors. Plus, they have the words EMMERDALE SPOILER across the top. So I'm happy to take them at face value.

I agree that it is down to Ruby having so few major storylines that people underestimate Alicyo as an actress. I find her believable as playing a warm character.

BIB: Why? Cain and Pete are my favourite characters but if either or both of them go I'll still carry on watching ED. To me ED is just a bit of entertainment, an escape from the trials and tribulations of 'real life'.

It's this kind of logic that genuinely makes me wonder what you're even doing on a soap forum? I think it's very narrow minded of you to think that soap actors aren't able to deliver performances that match up to the performances of actors in other fields. They're not lesser actors just because they're on a soap.... this is something that I feel quite passionate about and it is a myth that I was hoping was starting to be dispelled.

I really wish they hadn't told us exactly what it is and kept it a secret. Can't they keep anything under wraps nowadays? |

Gloria, I remember her. She married Pollard, back when he was a devious, scheming git...she turned out to be just as bad as him.

I think Ruby is going to die.
Emmerdale always do this, they suddenly feature a character in scenes after a long period of inactivity just to remind us who they are before they write them out. Then I think Ali will leave the village with Rachel. And I think all of the spoilers are trying to make it look like Ross will die, but I think that's all a big tease. They won't kill him or Pete off. And now we know

Having just seen the spoiler pic of Moira I think either Adumb or Cain could be in mortal danger.
Please let it be Adumb...

So..... Kate Oates says and old character returns?
Did she say an old character or a familiar face? If its an old character - maybe her choice of words means another one has been recast? Or if its familiar face..... if its not Amy because Chelsea Halfpenny is busy, or Charity or Nicola because we know they are only on leave, then who? Nikhil? Paul? Val's daughter Sharon? Bob's son Jamie? TJ?

Don't worry MrJames, we don't all agree with spunger on this.
![]() The hard facts about these amazingly brilliant soap actors back up everything i've said. They are fronting KFC level shows not 5 star gourmet ones made by top quality production teams with top quality in demand actors. Until more soap actors make it away from soaps their reputation will rightly remain where it is now. I don't get this need to big up soap acting. One of my current fav tv shows is the SI-FI series Z Nation. It is trashy low budget exploitation Zombie nonsense with some seriously dodgy acting. I am able to enjoy it for what it is with no need to try and prentend it's anything more than a bit of night time entertainment. |

They are fronting KFC level shows not 5 star gourmet ones made by top quality production teams with top quality in demand actors. Until more soap actors make it away from soaps their reputation will rightly remain where it is now. Many people see being in a soap as 'the big time.' And not every performer is greedy for what you seem to think is a bigger 'big time' or a better success. And as we well know, which people in soaps are good actors is in the eye of the beholder. One man's scrap is another man's treasure and all that......
