I agree that it is down to Ruby having so few major storylines that people underestimate Alicyo as an actress. I find her believable as playing a warm character.

This time next week, if we find out that Alicya has more time on my hands, then so shall I. Emmerdale will disappear from my own viewing for the foreseeable future if Ruby and Nessa are no longer there.

The rest of us non--soap-insider ordinary viewer plebs just go on what we read in the press. Some of which may be speculation, but these are obviously reports from press who've been invited to the screening and to interview the actors. Plus, they have the words EMMERDALE SPOILER across the top. So I'm happy to take them at face value.

BIB: Why? Cain and Pete are my favourite characters but if either or both of them go I'll still carry on watching ED. To me ED is just a bit of entertainment, an escape from the trials and tribulations of 'real life'.

Whereas Corrie I watch for the general community interest, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks depend to some extent on special characters. You are right that ED can be escapist but I still want to believe in it as worthwhile, rather than the producers forgetting that it is our programme to watch not theirs. We could be echoing 2011 in the event of excessive and/or unsuitable exits.

Maybe everyone who has killed someone will be haunted by their victim. Belle will be haunted by Gemma, Aaron will be haunted by Jackson, Andy will be haunted by Sarah, Debbie will be haunted by Gennie, Laurel will be haunted by Daisy and Robert will be haunted by Katie and Matthew King.

The hard facts about these amazingly brilliant soap actors back up everything i've said. They are fronting KFC level shows not 5 star gourmet ones made by top quality production teams with top quality in demand actors. Until more soap actors make it away from soaps their reputation will rightly remain where it is now.
I don't get this need to big up soap acting. One of my current fav tv shows is the SI-FI series Z Nation. It is trashy low budget exploitation Zombie nonsense with some seriously dodgy acting. I am able to enjoy it for what it is with no need to try and prentend it's anything more than a bit of night time entertainment.

but why would a soap actor want to 'make it away from soaps' if they can handle the fast filming required to make so many weekly episodes and are content with their payment and their level of success?
Many people see being in a soap as 'the big time.'
And not every performer is greedy for what you seem to think is a bigger 'big time' or a better success.

And as we well know, which people in soaps are good actors is in the eye of the beholder.
