Crikey now Charley Webb is the latest name on the list of the amazingly brilliant ED actors. This is getting beyond silly.
Martin Scorcese should be told about all these names.

I've always rated Charley Webb. But I don't wish to discuss this with you anymore Spunger as your repetitive posts bore me to death.

Yes it is. It really, really is.

My point about giving it go away from soaps is aimed at the younger actors and the amazingly brilliant ones like Charlotte Bellamy who have never given it a go.
I can fully understand the likes of Lesley Dunlop and the older ED actors being happy with their lot and happy to stay for as long as they're wanted. Though I think Charlie Hardwick is a dreadful panto, ham actress, I really admire her for quitting to try other things at her stage of life. Nicola Wheeler has said she'll stay for as long as she'd wanted and I can fully understand her reasons. Jeff and Emma will probably want to stay as well and I don't blame them either. But it really is time for the likes if Kelvin Fletcher, Charley Webb, the guy who plays Ross, to move on and see if they can make ity away from soaps. Others like the rocking horse that plays Kirin should just thank their lucky stars they are in a job.”

r
so you don't think that non-actors are subject to the same sorts of desires to be creative, have new experiences and NOT do the same thing every day? There are plenty of would-be actors, musicians and artists putting up with doing more 'mundane' jobs. Or that actors are in some way from the rest of us? You certainly put the ones you consider 'great' on a pedestal.
Now I agree that the young actors could gain from experience elsewhere but they will need to'get real' and accept that the West End or Hollywood will not call for everyone regardless of talent and that they might have to be prepared to do another soap, a much maligned panto, provincial theatre or even adverts (if they can wrest them from the top Hollywood actors).
Part of the challenge that a soap actor will face is feeling stuck in a rut. That's not unique to actors. It's a testament to them if that's not reflected in their performances.

Nope, nobody said she was amazingly brilliant. They said she gave fantastic performances. Pretty different really, and nice to see someone actually appreciating ED instead of crapping on it, even if I don't agree on Charley particularly.

We get the message, spunger.

a) you think all soap actors are mediocre to rubbish, particularly on ED
b) you think anyone who expresses any enthusiasm for the acting is a fool.

Well, I enjoy a lot of the acting on ED, and I'll continue to say so.

Let's move on to something more positive. Constant disdain gets pretty life-sapping after a while.

Well said.

Spunger has been pouting the same rubbish for age.

Havent Spunger also stated on a number of occasions that they will not be watching Emmerdale until the Kate Oates has gone!!

So, at the beginning of what should be a big week for ED, what do we all think - who will die?

My thoughts:

Joanie (I think bringing her back was probably just a mechanism for getting Kyle into the Dingle family, probably staying with Zak/Lisa/Belle to start with and then eventually ending up with Cain and Moira). Will be a shame though because Denise Black is a great actress and there's plenty of potential for the character.

Finn - sadly I think one of the Bartons will go and I think Finn is the most likely - the producers seem to have shoved him into the background for the last few weeks and don't really know what to do with him. Again, shame, because I like him and his relationships with Victoria and, recently, Ross are really nice.

Ruby - from having virtually vanished into the background, there have been a few scenes with Ruby in recently, to remind us about her, so she could well be for the chop.

Dan - I think there may be some subtle (or not so subtle) hints in him and Kerry not getting on which could signal the end for him.

That's my thoughts at the minute - anyone else?

Very sadly, I agree about Finn and Ruby. I like them both, but they are both definitely at risk. I also worry for both Kerry and Victoria, who I also like a lot.

Not sure about Joanie - depends where they want to go with Cain/Kyle storyline. Her dying would be a convenient way of forcing Cain to take care of him.

Dan - possibly, but if Kerry died, he would leave anyway to be with Ali/Sean - specially if Ruby was gone as well.

In fact I'm starting to wonder what and who is going to be left that I actually like.

Agree. We all have characters we may not like but on the whole the acting on Emmerdale is excellent especially considering the fact they have to have six episodes recorded every week of the year. Continually criticising those actors in my opinion does a huge disservice to them and comes across as ignorant and reeking of sour grapes.

I think spunger would love to work in acting.
I think he's a frustrated performer himself and this is his way of getting his own dissatisfaction off his chest.
That's all.

But spungey, think about if people left the show - Kelvin Fletcher in particular knows he has limitations as an actor and he knows he wouldn't make it big if he left. He enjoys a well paid role in a popular show that affords him a very comfortable lifestyle.
He will stay as long as he is wanted and wouldn't risk giving up his comfy lifestyle to try another role.
He isn't alone.

If he left, he would be cutting off his source of income - a good source of income.
Why would anyone give up their well paid job if they are happy with the level of success they have attained.

Big fishes in a small pond and all that.

I think the only reason Kelvin Fletcher would leave would be if he had enough success at his motor racing to be able to turn professional...

I hadnt thought about Joanie being a goner.

But yes - good call.

Yeh - and I don't think he has any ambition to make it big in Hollywood.
He's making a very good living and enjoying his life.

But, although he's doing OK at it just now, he could only do that for so long.
Emmerdale could be for life.

Ditto. My worst nightmare is the endless going round in circles of Charity (spit), men, money, scams and schemes, her belief that she and Cain are "meant to be together" and her reinfecting her daughter Debbie, whom I was beginning to really like, before all this Ross nonsense. Was hoping she would take at least two years off, so I can get my eyes realigned from crossing them in agony every time this woman appears on my screen.

Nobody has said anything about soap actors trying to make it big in Hollywood but Kelvin has said he will want to try his luck away from ED, but not just yet

Nah I'm very happy doing what I'm doing st the moment.
As for Kelvin. You said Karl Davies was an atrocious actor. So bad he made you fast forward his story with Katie. Karl has been one of the shows very few success stories while the ones you rate totally bombed when they left ED and had to return. His partner in crime in those scenes has already got a role in a show with some fine actors in a production unit with a track record. The is why I so disagree with so many fm's on acting.
I think with his muscular build Kelvin might actually do OK in action movies or gangsta thug type roles.

I'm worried everyone speculating about Finn getting killed off, surely that absolute gobshite James is the most expendable Barton! Who the hell would miss him, viewers or characters?

I was trying to be realistic about the acting.
So many of the comments have become so wildly OTT and against everything I've read and seen from those in the world of acting that it's got to the point where I can't even respect those opinions anymore because they make me think they don't know what they are talking about. It would be highly rude and offensive for me to continue to say this kind of thing especially as everyone on here seem like nice friendly people.
So it is high time I backed off (cheers all round) and left you guys in peace

Spoiler
I thought Finn would be doomed. But that's ok, as I don't mind him...he is cute too.

Maybe he won't live like some maiden aunt in future.

As Kate Oates said Emma is set to go off the rails, maybe James will die.

Hot Ross Buns had better survive!!!

Agreed. Charley is one of Emmerdale's best.
