Whether you are telling the absolute truth or not, is swearing on your mother's life (or your recently deceased mother's grave) not the most distasteful way to try and convince anyone of anything?

Maybe, maybe not but I've said it all my life as have everyone I grew up with. You could say 'swear to God' is along with a million other 'swears'.

Swear on your own life!

She's so tacky that she thinks it makes good TV.

Also, it's a school kid thing and I'm not sure it works in the manner she states as her mum is already dead.

It's not so much the "I swear on my mother's grave" bit more the "I swear on my fcking mother's grave" that got on my wick.

What does that really mean though ? it's just a bunch of words thrown together that means nothing really. Just superstitious nonsense.

I'm with you there. If you hold something so dear to you, you will swear on it, then don't belittle that fact by f-ing about it!

They were drunk.

Anyway, swearing on someone's life means jack shit, it's nonsense. I roll my eyes at such rubbish.

And seeing as she was obviously lying what an insult to her mother/mother's memory.

Does anyone know for sure she is lying or is this because your pro mark?

I cringed when she said that, especially using the eff word. My mother died recently and it wouldn't occur to me to use her name in an argument, so disrespectful.

Ugh, i don't like it when people do this. It's childish and immature.

Who, me? I meant everyone in the world, even if you're telling the truth, not just Aisleyne. It's very crass, even if I do laugh at some of Marc's cruder comments.

Do you honestly believe there are people watching the show let alone those that actually take part who don't know that it's an entertainment show and that the money comes from the show.

If she had said that her friend couldn't afford to pay her back so she went on the show to get her money back then it would have been beliveable, to deny that she knew the show pays the judgement she discredited herself completely.

Hasn't it been already proved in some threads from yesterday? Anyway, her use of foul language - "my f*cking mother" for goodness sake, how disrespectful can you get? She revolts me.

I've heard a lot of people say I swear on so and sos grave aiselynne isn't the first person on the planet to say this I'm not sure she is telling the truth or not but people are only upset because they are pro marc

It's not something I do, but how else do you convince an arse like Marc, who is goading you by calling you a liar, over and over again?

He let slip that he had been involved in some way with the show. I wonder if a baboon was trying to sue him for impersonating him, or something.

To me, my word is good enough, if someone does not believe what I am saying, then that is their problem, not mine. Why use other people to bolster what you are saying, what is the point.

I don't like either expressions, but the latter is even more disrespectful and distasteful.
BTW I'm not a Marc fan. I can't stand him. I've no idea whether or not she was lying, but surely her vocabulary stretches further than this?

I hated that too. I have heard people use that expression, I don't personally like it, if you need to swear on a life then swear on your own. However it was the curse there in the middle that was a bit crass.

I used to say that at school.

It just so sound juvenile & my jaw hit the floor when Aisleyne said it, because I have not heard that since my school days & I don't recall ever hearing an adult say it.
