I really think this will be touching, but hope they don't focus to much on other storylines, and at least give one episode which is completely dedicated on the Deirdres death, and the Barlows.

I appreciate how difficult this must have been to write/direct/film for all concerned but my first impression on seeing the clip is that they just kind of had Bev blurt the news out. If i'm honest, I feel it could have been handled with a little more sensitivity....

If Blackburn is in charge we'll probably get it dragged into a conversation about the Nazir's chickens.

Deirdre's death needs to be the prominent storyline for the whole week and not rushed.

I wonder why Ken wasn't informed straight away as per usual next of kin protocol?

Ken finding out does appear to lack any sort of gravitas, looking at that clip, but it is out of context and we'll need to see the following scenes to form a judgement on the overall storyline. Tbh I'm not expecting much after Betty.

If it is, I hope they warn viewers in advance. I for one wouldn't bother watching that week.

Just a pity that week had to include Callum, Sarah and Bethany.

How disrespectful, Why shouldnt they spend a whole week covering a death of not only a character, but an actress who was Corronation Street.

Eastenders done it for Mike Reid, and John Bardon so why shouldnt Corrie do it for one of there own

Whatever people think of Susie Blake's acting, at least they brought back Bev which is good considering Deirdre has spent around 8-9 months with her.

I didn't say they shouldn't do it, I said I wouldn't be watching if they did. How is that disrespectful? I'm not even clear how you can respect (or not) a fictional character.

If they wish to "cover" the death of an actress, that's also up to ITV. And I probably wouldn't watch that, either.

Each day in the UK, about 1350 people die. The actress was one of them that day.

To consider the death of someone I did have respect for, look at Mother Teresa. Highly regarded worldwide, yet her death and funeral received virtually no coverage.

It's difficult for actors to portray emotion when a character is killed off and the actor or actress are dead in real life.

I couldn't stand Deirdre in her last few years so am not bothered.

There's just no way the news would be broken like this! Why on Earth would Bev turn up, instead of ringing Ken immediately, it's nonsense.

If you remember, she was slightly "gazumped" in the mourning stakes that week by Princess Diana...

Lol; of course I remember. I also remember which one I respected, and which I had absolutely neither liking nor respect for.

I expected better than that from Corrie. Especially for a legend like Deirdre.

It felt very rushed and the acting from the woman who plays Bev was shocking!

I read the thread title thinking it meant Bev as in Bev Callard!.

Anyway I imagine this will be really sad to watch and I'm sure all the cast involved found it difficult to do but would have been determined to do Anne Kirkbride proud..

I'm really hoping for a three-hander with Ken, Tracy and Peter after the funeral.

If Bev was coming anyway I'd totally understand her wanting to break the news face to face as opposed to a cold phone call. Seems reasonable to me.

Susie Blake's acting wasn't great as it seemed very forced but it would have been extremely difficult to film those scenes.

So are you expecting her to just knock on the door and say 'Deirdre is dead'? Imagine how hard that scene must have been for her
