Homechoice working wireless

Hello All,

I've decided to go for homechoice but have a question regarding using my current Netgear DG834G 11g wireless router with homechoice. Will this be compatible ? and if not any recommendations out there...

Once again thank you all for your contributions....

Not if my research is corrent. The DG835G is a combined ADSL Modem, Router and Wireless.

For Homechoice ignore that it is delivered over ADSL - you are provided with Ethernet as the interface so you need a cable router style unit.

The WGR614 would be a ssuitable Netgear unit.

Could we stop all these posts about connections and wireless???

Can we talk more about Channels and stuff? Everyone seem to be interested about how to connect the service properly rather than its contents!

Do you want to distribute the service to just one PC or a network? What rating wirless equipment are you currently using, 'b' or 'g'? If you are only connecting one PC (or more than one but not planning on filesharing) and have 'b' compatible hardware then I can recommend the Linksys W54UK (or something like that). Only 'b' rated but it is pretty cheap, worked instantly with the HC STB and has been very reliable.

If you are using all Netgear equipment already then another Netgear router may be more suitable to your needs.

NinjaPirate.... I've got 2 PCs and a wireless laptop all on 'g' ... I'll have a look at the Linksys W54UK - thanks very much for your help.

Trouble is if you move data between them on the 'b' wifi it will be sssslllllllloooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. If you are working with Netgear stuff already I would go with M_at's suggestion. broadbandbuyer.co.uk is a good place to look - they are a friendly and helpful bunch and reliable too.

Despite Homechoice supplying Netgear routers as their wireless option, people have had problems with them. Linksys stuff seems to work very well and is cheap (but ugly!).

My SafeCom router & PCI card from ebuyer are working fine with HomeChoice, although the range isn't all that good. It's cheap junk, after all.
