I am glad they didnt drag the dream stuff out any longer, or it would just seem like a waste of time.

It's certainly not a great start. Not sure what the ratings were like in the US but my guess is not good.

I did always wonder if the show knew what it would do when it ran out of book, S3, suggests that they do not. (really need to find out exactly where the book ends) Much like Prison Break, once it got passed the title of the show, it became lost.

Still its worth noting, that what I said a few days ago, has not changed, they are still Under the Dome, they are just working themselves out of the Season 2 cliff hanger. Episodes of Classic Who, can be like this, when watched in one go, the invidual episodes cliff hangers seem pointless and forced.

This show diverged pretty drastically from the book almost from the start of S1. For example, as I recall in the book Junior killed Angie a few pages in from the beginning, there was huge conflagration in which nearly everyone died, and Julia got the dome lifted by asking the alien kids who put it there nicely.
Why Steven King has agreed to still have his name attached to this nonsense is a mystery to me.

The poster who suggested that the scriptwriters must be 'Lost' rejects got it about right.
I did wonder if a polar bear would suddenly appear....

I am going to have be at a really loose end to watch epi. 3

I know the show will not be like the book, what you do to pace a story over 13 episodes is very different to what you do to pace a story across a book, so I dont expect the show to be 100% faithful to the book, however this is getting bizarre and way off the tone of the book.

This show is bonkers but I've just accepted the craziness and find it pretty entertaining. Roll on next episode.

Yep, that sort of sums it up nicely!

Never heard of Marg Helgenberger so I do not bother about any perceived problem with her.

She played Catherine Willows in CSI for ten years or so. And looks rather sexy in glasses

So that is why I don't know her - never watched CSI!

Just watching this on catch up.

Not sure I'll be sticking with it those 'lost' type story lines irritate the hell out of me.

...and one reason you never watched CSI is that Mike Vogel never went anywhere near the franchise! Am I wrong??
Personally, I was in a worse position than many of you given I missed the second half of S2! I lost it about the time the Zenith sub-plotline was introduced.
Anyway, the plotline for the first two hours of S3 shared some similarities with the first three or four episodes of S5 of Eureka. (Better known as A Town Called Eureka on Pick which is showing S4 at 2:30PM weekday afternoons.)
Spoiler
Some of the town's geniuses were abducted and had their minds hooked up to a virtual Matrix which simulated Eureka four years down the line. The major difference to UTD was that the kidnappers were a rival organisation out to exploit the eggheads ideas & inventions, not a dome of dubious origins & a sociopathic girl.

I quite like the CSI / CSI NY on screen crossvover between Willows and Don, but I am a CSI fan so I would

Actually, simongvs70, it was watching UTD which brought the delectable Mike Vogel to my attention. Never heard of him before! I don't usually tend to watch US shows unless they are sci-fi.

Anyway, your post made me chuckle - you're not wrong!

Was itjust me, but was the picture quality different from the past 2 seasons? seems to have been filmed with cheaper cameras or something

Fear not, it's over now. Everybody's still under the dome and everybody's still screwed.

Including, it appears, a couple of 'new' people, namely Eva and Christine (and a few others?)

Which makes even less sense than usual unless the 'aliens' are grabbing people from all over the North Eastern US, or they turn out to be Missing Persons who vanished from Chester's Mill yonks ago and Melanie has been building a battery in the caves for much longer than 3 weeks - Barbie's voiceover having gone from "Two Weeks ago" to "A Few Weeks ago and back to "Three Weeks ago" as the producers play merry hell with the timeline.

I refer you to any number of duff King adaptations by means of explanation. For bonus points, checkout Maximum Overdrive

Stephen King directed Maximum Overdrive himself and admittedly was off his face on cocaine throughout it.

the set where the cast was in the pods, looked like something from The Next Generation, safe to say the budget has suffered somewhat

Last weeks episode looked like it had been badly encoded, it kept blurring every second, probably to do with the conversion from 24 fps to 25, last nights was fine though.

I noticed I have two recordings set for next Mondays episode, one around 3am, cant tell if they are the same episode because the synopsis is different for both of them.
