I am too. And I don't understand the nostalgia for the early seasons. It was always daft.

Well I didn't know it was finishing tonight but I am glad to get it out the way with these two final episodes!

I just wonder how stupid the ending will be!

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't realise either! This makes it even more annoying that they've pushed it back to 1am. I wish C5 had had the decency to air the rest of the series in the usual 10pm slot; I mean, there weren't many episodes left and I'm sure it wouldn't have lost them that much in advertising revenue. Would have just been nice for the fans (though few we probably are). It puts me off watching anything like this on C5 again in case they treat the next series in this way (they already have form) and a a reputation like that will cost them more than anything.

Yes I said in the US pace thread that it all seemed to be a copy of 'The Tommy Knockers' when Marg joined the show.
Under the dome and the tommyknockers were both written by Stephen King. Did you prefer under the dome book to the tv series?

I watched the whole of the first 2 series, but I gave up watching after episode 2 of series 3, because it was getting more and more convoluted and rubbish. It was as if they were just making it up as they went along. I watched the final 2 episodes last night just out of curiosity, but it was a load of quasi-religious cryptic sci-fi nonsense. It was entertaining to see how it ended, but I'm glad I didn't waste time watching the 8 or so intervening episodes.

I watched the two final episodes back to back and can honestly say I am glad it's over! The story was neatly tied up until the reappearance of Dawn but if you ignore that, you can assume it all ended well.

I will miss my weekly fix of the delectable Mike Vogel though!

WEll that was quite a disappointing end.

No major battle, twist or anything that exciting really.

Quite sloppy storylines, writing and action.

Even though Ive enjoyed the silliness of the rest of the series I hoped for better in the end.

Ah well glad its over now!

I can stop my Monday night laffing sessions.

I'm glad that's all over! Loved the first 2 seasons and hated the third but knowing it had been cancelled was determind to see it through to the bitter end. I did like how the Queen was the double of Leona Lewis.

Who/what was Melanie all about though?! It's like everything that happened in the first 2 seasons was wiped and they started over with all the Christine/kinship rubbish.

I will miss Mike Vogel and his tight jeans though!

I thought it was all tied up well enough there - presumably this was not an adjusted ending? It's hard to tell if this was a defiant 'story not over' or that moment when the creature's tentacle twitches right at the closing credits and it's deliberately not clear if it was a trick of the light because that's what you do even if there's no sequel planned.

One set of stories close, another set of possibilities are waved at us - I have no problem with that.

The crazy thing is, the potential storylines actually look like they had some promise - a new egg, the new queen restarting the dastardly plans, and Norrie continues her journey into bad-ass-ery, and she will of course rescue Joe and yeah maybe those other people too

Big Jim, Lily and Hunter will be workiing to keep the authorities off Barbie and Julia while they go looking for where Dawn Of The Dome ends up.

Yes, I'm disappointed it's over. For everyone who hated it, you only have yourselves to blame, you could have given up any time you wanted, just one last one before calling it a day...

^^ It's because the new situation was described at such length that I think it was intended for another season. It's not so much a cliff-hanger as the start of a new story. I don't know how it would have worked with it not being in a Dome any more; perhaps there'd be a new Dome with some of the gang trapped inside it again and some left outside. It might have been interesting to see the aliens that Christine was afraid of turn up; maybe the Kinship were right and we did need them to protect us from the other aliens.

The end of the previous story was no worse than I expected. I quite liked the bit about Norrie and Joe being able to whistle because they'd been selected as Hands back in season 1, and the callback to some of the old locations.

I got the impression the later episodes that were similar to 'the TommyKnockers' story were written by session writers rather than Stephen King.

I haven't read the book, will try to find it later as the series was a let down. I suspect I'll prefer the book.

I have only just found this thread.

The whole series was batshit crazy from start to finish but despite myself I enjoyed it.

As for the finale how the hell did Barbie grab onto that chain?

The best character in the show was Big Bad Jim so despite him being a total bastard it was amusing to see him finish as a congressman.

Also a word for Marg's knockers - they deserved several scenes all of their own - a look at the domes?

Channel 5 treated the show like it does all of it's imports - Wentworth, Person of Interest etc.

Like dirt.

I was thinking the 'cure' for everybody might have to involve a new new queen to extract all the alien energy from everyone, though of course in curing them all she would have a super extra double dose of power and as we all know, power doesn't corrupt, it drives you totally mental.
So the gang would have to get themselves into the new dome to get the cure and it would all start again.

I may have missed something but were the (other) aliens likely to obliterate humanity or just the Kinship, due to e.g. the Dome being a method of infestation (or even pre-extermination holding cell) and the aliens actually being a sort of intergalactic Rentokil?

I watched the first two series and then they dumped it - like I watched the first four series of Justified - and they dumped that.

Only just watched series six of Sons of Anarchy - after they dumped that.

Why bother buying a series if TBTB are going to get rid of them after treating them all like crap?

Celebrity Bonking Benefit Cheats in the Big Brother House is all they care about now.

I feel myself breathing a sigh of relief that its over but also feeling a little disappointed that the craziness has finished!

mental final series from start to finish!

the birth scene for one
how on earth were Julia and Barbie driving that car around? was it a magic car? where did they get the petrol from?
where did Junior get his super powers from?
how come they all forgave Marg so quickly
Melanie
Barbie and the chain - superman or what!!

such a batty, mental programme but I will miss it!

Yeah, I'll miss it's battiness too but I'm not sure I could have coped with a fourth season.

The car was electric, or at least a hybrid - they were plugging it in to recharge it, in previous episodes.

Junior's super-powers were from him being 'infected'.

The bit that seemed to be missing was any explanation of Melanie or what happened 25 years ago that appeared to kick everything off.

Presumably the three kids at the end, plus Dawn, would be the New Hands (in 25 years' time?)?

Yeah they said (listen people!!!!) that it came down when christine first touched the egg - they showed it in flashback form cos of course she wasn't in season 1

Also it was when her and Eva found the egg that those 2 instantly got sucked into the earth and put in those cocoons. It may be 3 years of TV for us but it was all over in 4 weeks in Chester's Mill

When the Queen was born she ran at hypersonic speed out of the factory.

So why not simply use that speed to do a Greg Rutherford over the gap or simply blast Barbie out of the way before the plank had a chance to break?

For an extrasolar alien she was as thick as pigshit.
