Thanks for that Tony. Having listened to the interview and from checking his Twitter account, Boves is stepping back from football reporting in order to concentrate on his managerial responsibilities. He'll be the managing editor of talkSPORT 2 when that launches early next year. He also said he might be back to do the occasional reporting stint in the event of a late change when an originally scheduled reporter becomes unavailable, but only in those circumstances.

Boves has been at talkSPORT since it's rebranding from Talk Radio in 2000 so has been part of the station's reporting team for 15 years now. I'll miss his contributions, I always thought he was a very good as a correspondent.

Shame. I like him. It must be a full on job that he won't be covering the odd game here and there.

I was listening to Free Radio 80s' Friday Football Phone-In earlier, where Tom Ross mentioned that he would be covering Aston Villa v Sunderland for talkSPORT tomorrow (what's more he directly mentioned them by name). He'll be with Michael Gray, who seems to have sorted his issues out with Sunderland chairman Ellis Short after Gray's criticism of Short lead to talkSPORT being asked to leave Gray off their rota for games at the Stadium of Light.

In other talkSPORT news, it appears as if Sam Matterface is away this weekend. Andrew McKenna will be doing commentary on Tottenham Hotspur v Everton with Stan Collymore, while Jim Proudfoot will be with Stan for Southampton v Norwich City on Sunday.

Sorry I didn't reply to your question earlier Connor. Tom Ross didn't mention the Saturday coverage during The Friday Football Phone-In as far as I heard, he just said he'd be back on Monday night for his Sports Bar show with Ian Taylor.

I guess with him working for someone else on Saturday and with Free Radio 80s having no representation at games any longer, there's very little point in them doing a weekend programme so I assume they just ran their usual automated 80s jukebox output. I didn't check though so would be grateful if someone could confirm that. Indeed I haven't checked beyond the first day of the season and wonder if perhaps that was the only live football-based Saturday show they've done this term.

Free Radio 80s' Monday and Friday phone-ins are appointment to listen stuff for me, even when I can't listen live I make sure to catch the podcasts, so I'm really glad they are continuing. But being more of a talkSPORT listener generally, getting to hear Tom Ross on Kick Off and Matchday Live suits me down to the ground.
Mark.
