The card is no longer detected by the phone or the PC in the adaptor.
Looked it up and seems to be a problem with Samsung phones.

I've backed up contacts and can re-add any music to a new card. Will be missing a few pics though.

Is it totally shot?

Micro SD cards do fail and not just in Samsung phones. Take it out and try formatting it in your PC. It might work. There are various free programs that you can use to try and rescue the card and recover the data. But even if you do get it going again I would be wary about relying on it in the future and it is probably time to get another card. A decent quality 64gb card is just over £20 these days – look for a reputable seller (Amazon direct if you can).

Photos and contacts - You should definitely be syncing your contacts to your Google account, this way you have no need to worry about backing them up and importing them. As for photos, the Google Photos service allows free unlimited backups and if you sign up with Flickr they give you 1000gb of free storage for backups. I would recommend using both of these services.

It was a 32gb SanDisk from Amazon. The PC doesn't even recognise it and I know the adaptor and PC is working as my 2gb card is recognised.

Guess i'll be buying a new one.
