According to Daily Star, Aliona threatened to sue Brendan as he used her image on posters for his show

Aliona clearly had a case, as it is clearly her in the picture, face or not.
IIRC she was a last minute stand in for Brendan's regular partner, so it is not impossible there would be images of her dancing with Brendan they could have used, instead of Aliona

On the other hand, it also says the case was settled in December last year, so just muck-raking really.

I am sure there are clear rules about posters and advertising material for stage shows (probably controlled by someone like Equity or even the ASA), where you cannot stick the image of someone who is not in the show, or connected with it, on the poster.

to be fair, Aliona has a point - you cant advertise a show with someone who isnt actually appearing in the show!

This could explain the shade Brendon was apparently throwing at Aliona on tour at the beginning of the year

Obvious press leek trying to stir up things and get a bit of attention , lost a lot of respect for Brendan tbh when he openly slagged pros off on tour so bit of karma if he's had to put his hand in pocket !

Obviously he shouldn't have used her image, I think the article said he has paid her damages- must read it again, Will be awkward them working together once scd starts

Good grief this was an argument that brewed and was SOLVED months ago, hardly news for today.

Aliona is entitled to protect her rights to commercial use of images of her. It might harm future cases if she ignored it.

I went to see Brendan's tour because Aliona was on it. I think it was an added attraction to have Aliona on the tour, but the tour is good and Brendan is good on the tour.

Slow news day.
Craig hasn't been loose lipped at a show opening, James hasn't been controversial on Twitter, Ola hasn't had a hospital appointment, Kristina hasn't been 'spotted' with any random male, no faded pop star has accidentally said they might, possibly, maybe be taking part.
The Keep Strictly In The News elves have to work with what they've got, even if it is a bit dusty.

I assumed he was criticising her because they had fallen out, but it seems he doesn't understand that he was the one who did something wrong.

Indeed, I do think Aliona seems to bring something out of whoever she is partnering.

Didn't Brendan refuse to be paired with Aliona some years ago? Maybe after Karen Hardy left?

Well Brendan certainly didn't refuse to be paired with Aliona on his previous marathon tour. And they danced brilliantly together.

The last tour without Aliona was great too to be fair, but Aliona made the previous tour extra special for me.

I thought it was Artem that refused to be partnered with Aliona, not Brendan?

I guess some pros just work better with certain partners than with others. We can't all be compatible with everyone.

The rumour was Pasha refused to dance with her, although as it's all rumours (ie bollocks) I guess it doesn't really matter who it was.

Fortunately the producer has the final say and everyone has to get on with doing their job.

Doesn't stop them from producing great dances.

Oh, that's right. I remember now.

If there's any truth to the rumour, I'm guessing it might have been more because he wanted to be paired with Katya than because he didn't want to be paired with Aliona, given that he's mostly been paired with Aliona since Katya left Strictly and there haven't been any further rumours about him not wanting to dance with her.

What I read was that it was based on Pasha being a friend of Aliona's previous long term partner and I guess that suggests that the break-up wasn't entirely amicable - though I have seen tweets from Aliona where she seemed to still hold good memories of their time together.

I fee like that has got to be bollocks bc pasha is such a professional I think he'd dance with a black widow spider if he had to!

Not saying Aliona is horrible - but I think even if they didn't get on, he'd still dance with her.

This is what was said originally...

Apparently Pasha didn't 'refuse' to dance with her but requested a different partner.

I just remembered reading something on here about a male pro not wanting to dance with Aliona. Even if that is true, it looks like it wasn't Brendan so it doesn't matter!

Pasha said this ??

Quote:
“his exact words were that he finds her behaviour uncomfortable and inappropriate at times.”

WTF? Wonder what he meant. Uncomfortable/inappropriate? That doesn't really sound like garden-variety grumpiness. I didn't pay much attention to Brendan's criticism of her because he's so stroppy himself, but sweet little Pasha

Oh well, I still like her - but not many would have acted as openly disgusted as she did with Gregg at the launch - the show must go on and all that...

She was paired with Trent last season - wonder who it'll be this time? Tristan seems to like her - I'd rather see him with Aliona than Kristina, aesthetically speaking - Kristina needs someone shorter. Or Anton would do. Maybe she could sex him up a bit - if that's possible.
