It's true that the game hasn't strayed too far from its tried and tested formula. It wouldn't be Uncharted if it did. But what it has done is taken a great game and made every little thing a little bit better. The end result is an experience that many of us have grown to love over the years taken to the next level. That's why I'm so in love with it.

As I "gushed" earlier, I think chapter 11, when viewed as a single entity, is a work of genius. So many things going on and they all flow together. If you aren't in love with the game after that, frankly you're dead inside.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm kind of glad this is the last one. They can go out on a high and then go on to create brand new adventures with new characters, new settings and new gameplay. Between what ever they do next and the inevitable The Last Of Us 2, Naughty Dog's output is going to be really exciting for years to come.
I was maybe being a little over critical before due to the slow start to the game. Chapter 10, 11 & 12 have been so much better. There's no doubt this is the one of the best Uncharted games I've played but at the same time I agree with their decision to make this the last in the series. There is only so much they can do in terms of story and gameplay. They could revamp the climbing sections but I seem to be in the minority on that one and it certainly wouldn't justify another game. I just wish they had did something a little different for this game, or at some point in the series.

In fairness to ND, while they haven't made the climbing any more challenging, it has been significantly overhauled in U4. Yes, you can just hold UP and hammer X to scoot up walls. without much thought. That suits some players. But, if you like, you do have opportunity to experiment, to prod and poke at the different layers of Drake’s animation using discrete movements of the analogue stick. You can slowly stretch, rotate and feel the sensation of searching for a hold, latching on and transferring Nate's weight in beautifully seamless animations. It's a joy to watch.

Completed last night. Fantastic way to end a fantastic series. Came to Uncharted relatively late (2011) when I bought a PS3, really glad I made that choice
Great characters, great story (best story out of them all imo) and incredible almost photo real graphics. How do you do it Naughty Dog!?

A review: (spoilers warning)

Indeed. Skipped straight passed that until said person amends it. I simply refuse to be ruined by spoilers. I'm also glad I've had no encounter with review sites/articles.

Yeah would recommend spoiler tagging the epilogue, think that only worked so well because it was a complete surprise.

This post is also a bit risky, because now I know there's an epilogue

But yeah, Rubrical's post needs amending. It's nice that he told us there'd be spoilers in his post, but it still needs tagging. It only takes one errant glance...

Accidentally caught a glimpse of one word about what I assume is the epilogue. Kind of confirms what I suspected to be the conclusion of the series, but it would have been nice to have found out for myself.

Have (temporarily) added the poster to my ignore list so I can't see that post and won't come across and further details.

We have just edited the post to put it in spoiler tags. If you're going to be talking in depth or discussing plot points we recommend putting that discussion in spoiler tags to avoid spoiling others. Alternatively start a spoiler thread for the game to discuss the plot openly with others who also want to engage without fear of spoiling.

Sincerest apologies guys I figured my warning would have been enough but I should have included the tags. Sorry.

I felt the last few chapters in the forest area dragged on a bit. Great game though.

A separate thread for those who have finished the game night be handy.

And maybe another one for multiplayer.

192,000 copies (retail) sold in the UK alone, smashing the debut records set by previous titles in the series.

(U2 84k, U3 115k)

Huge.

That was amazing, reminded me of the one in uncharted 2.

Currently on Chapter 18 - New Devon.

I notice that as you progress through the game the leisurely stretches seem to become more frequent, although it isn’t usually too long before things pick up.

The driving/exploring sequences seem a little tedious…there is only so much scenery you can admire. Also exploring some of the caves and the various ruined buildings seems to be dragging a little.

During the firefight sequences the lack of weapons you can carry can be frustrating. I realise this adds to the difficulty, ideally you need to constantly move around and find more weapons from downed enemies.

But in the later chapters where the firefights become more intense, you almost can’t move without getting taken out…especially by snipers. And with those snipers it does not even seem to matter if you are hiding/crouching/taking cover…one shot and you’re dead.

Constantly moving, doubling back a lot of the time to have a breather and max your health seems to work for me. That and a combination of taking as many out by stealth as possible (as long as you’re willing to be patient) also works.

No what you mean about the snipers, you get flushed out of cover with a perfectly placed granade then sniped! Cheap

And it’s very difficult to take out the snipers with pistol or even machine guns…they are usually so high up or well-hidden that by the time you have zeroed in on them they get you.

If you can get hold of one of those guns (not sure of the name) that fires grenades, that does the trick…and usually takes out a few other goons as well.

The one thing the game lacks for me is a method of taking out enemies silently from a distance, without alerting the other goons. You would’nt need to get them all without being seen, just enough to whittle them down.

You don’t always want to go in all guns blazing.

I can agree with this. Some silenced weapons would've been nice.

A few of the reviews picked up on this and, having now completed the game myself, it is a fair point. Overall though I absolutely loved it and graphically it's astounding.

Just finished it. Amazing from start to finish. I don't think it dragged at any point. They always changed up each part somehow.

Definitely going into my favourite games like.
