Just finished it. Amazing from start to finish. I don't think it dragged at any point. They always changed up each part somehow.
Definitely going into my favourite games like. ![]() Couldn't be happier with it, or with the series end. Just a shame we won't be getting any more like it. |

I thought it was excellent and, for my money, the first game I've played where I truly went "this is the next generation" - a little bit worrying we are so long into the next-gen cycle for me to say that, but nevertheless, at least the moment is here.
Some thoughts below but spoiler free so feel free to read ahead. I thought the gun combat, despite less "bulky" enemies, was harder than in previous games. Enemies were very aggressive in terms of flanking and attacking, and I noticed the removal of the option to throw back grenades meant that it was no longer possible to just stay behind the one piece of cover. I think, generally speaking, this added to the tension and made the firefights truly memorable - there were only a couple where I felt frustrated, but nothing compared to some of the previous games. Narratively there were a few issues. I thought there were definitely some pacing issues - a few sections seemed to be pure exploration with little in the way of threat or enemy contact. I disagree that the game 'dragged' however - how often do we complain about AAA single-player games clocking in at 8 hours, and yet one comes in at (for me) 14 and a half hours, and people say it dragged? In terms of AAA single-player narrative driven experiences, I can only name God of War II in terms of more value for money. The central gameplay that has made the series so popular remains but all of the minor tweaks really improved it. Nothing was there that seemed tacked on or out of place just to tick a box for Sony (looking at you, inFamous Second Son), or for the sake of it. All the new additions made positive improvements to platforming, strategy and exploration. The best new additions for me were the driving sections and how they were integrated so cleverly with the Uncharted philosophy of puzzle platforming. Naughty Dog's genius truly shone in the level design though. Some of those gaming areas were huge yet designed in such a clever way as to always poke and prod you in the right direction, never truly letting you get lost; even if it was just a throwaway piece of dialogue. Where does it rank on the Uncharted scale? It's very, very hard to say. The first Uncharted is generally agreed to be the weakest - simply the basic nuts and bolts of the franchise. Uncharted 2, I would say, is still probably the tightest from start to finish. Uncharted 3 had a very disconnected narrative but the setpieces were phenomenal - the cruise ship, the airplane, the convoy chase. Uncharted 4 has, I would say, the tightest gameplay in the series. It does that better than Uncharted 2, albeit with a slightly weaker narrative structure, and less impressive setpieces than Uncharted 3. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take the cop-out response here and say that UC2-4 all do different things well, and in their own way, are all equals. Is UC4 the best title on PS4 though? Absolutely, unequivocally yes. It is a marvel of modern gaming and I had to pick my jaw off the floor inumerable times at the sheer beauty of what they created. When we say videogaming is art, this is what we mean. |

I'm trying to think if I'd rate this as PS4s best game. The only other game that might take the top spot is The Witcher 3. They're not comparable games, but I've been trying to decide, if I had to pick one over the other, which would take the top spot. I think Uncharted takes it, it's just an excellent story driven game, it's tight, near flawless.
Anyone disagree with this been PS4s best game ? |

I can agree with this. Some silenced weapons would've been nice.

Hmmm... My PS4 sounds like a jet engine for 5 minutes or so the dies down to a constant loudish fan. It's a launch day model so maybe time to think of a replacement.
I've been in and out hospital the last week so haven't gotten round to playing much but I've just reached the start of chapter 11 and can't pick out any flaws in the game at all. |

My first play through was about 18 or 19 hours, and found 50 treasures.

Spoiler
I'm playing through on moderate for now but once I've finished my first playthrough, I'll try crushing as it'll be easier with knowing what to expect. Yet to touch the multiplayer. Anyone any thoughts on it? |

Anyone any thoughts on it? I find it more fun than UC3 mp but not quite as good as UC2 mp. Completed crushing this evening, it's made easier by the fact that you can use game modifiers and that after completing it once. |

Wow, chapter 11 is one of the best things I've played in a video game. Not often a game wows me but Naughty Dog are usually the ones to do it.
You can stop at any moment and admire things on screen like the grass, cars driving in the distant scenery, the character's hair. The facial expressions are so well done, you'd be surprised if you didn't know that the guy playing Drake doesn't look like him. Not had a single bit of lag either which puts Ubisoft to shame. |

The multiplayer is pretty average compared to UC3. Not many maps or game modes, and the lack of an offline split-screen or cooperative mode, as in UC3, is disappointing.
Still, obvious that the developmental time went into making the sensational single-player experience, so no real complaints. |

Naughty Dog are investigating adding a split-screen co-op mode of some form, but will only do so if they can maintain frame rates. This is separate to the paid DLC that will be available for those that want it. |

I loved chapter 10, because it basically had everything in it. (Exploration, gunplay, stealth, and a trademark UC 'moment'). And then they went and topped it with chapter 11! |
