Hopefully now some of the other providers are dropping the roaming charges in Europe three will get rid of the throttling

It has said it will look at this, perhaps offering a faster service for a price (something I suggested to Three many times in the past).

Just get a TescoMobile SIM -excellent performance. Forward your Three number to it.

Does Tesco Mobile have 4G roaming agreements or is this just 3G data roaming?

Only 3G data roaming but very fast most of the time. Got 13 days out of first SIM. Now on second. Use of free credit very welcome.

You can also pick up a local Three Italy sim at most shopping centres. This offers great speeds and data allowance for a few Euros.

Or a Three Ireland 🇮🇪 SIM to use in Italy -this offers AYCE data without throttling as part of Three Like Home for 20€.

Shame I don't live in Ireland

Also quick question what Italian networks does the Tesco sim work with?

You can use TIM, WIND & Vodafone Italy. (So all of the networks there)

See all the network agreements that Tesco/O2 have here: http://www.tescomobile.com/help-and-...o-the-uk/italy

Cheers that's good to know as Vodafone and TIM have the best coverage, though WIND is pretty good aswell

Although I've got my 3 SIM, I'll be buying a Tesco mobile SIM with a £20 topup/8GB of data for my trip to France in August. Tesco Mobile/o2 appear to partner with Orange, Bouygues and SFR, ideal for coverage in rural areas!

Hi all, I am holidaying in france at the moment and I am also being plagued by these throttling issues. Would it be possible for someone to PM me the VPN details? I apologise for resurrecting an old thread by the way.

Pretty much the same cost as Vodafone and these just seem confusing to me, too many plans.

Who uses 40GB of data when they're abroad anyway? I'd say 2GB is more than enough.

interesting. I started my 12 month vodafone contract on July 19th.
I might cancel it by Aug 16th if the new plans are better..

Indeed. I took out the 12Gig SIM at £15.36 a month. If EE come up with some good sim only prices I might cancel.
