Who do you reckon is the worst actor and the worst actress in Coronation Street at the moment ?
Here is my choice -
Worst Actor - Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland)
Worst Actress - Helen Worth (Gail Platt, or whatever she's called these days !)

I know Kirk isn't the brightest button in the box, but most of the time he just makes me cringe - he's not even thick in a funny way. Just embarrassing.

The scene in Audreys where Gail threw the hairspray etc at Eileen was pathetic, and when Gail gets drunk, she's even worse.

Actor: Antony Cotton...Delivers lines like he's reading an autocue & clueless with real drama!
Actress: Hayley Tamaddon (Andrea)... Always has a stupid grin on her face, even in the scenes where she was dumping her hubby & supposedly hanging on for dear life from the Rover's guttering!! Again useless at serious drama!!!

Hayley Tamaddon is a much better actress in the theatre. Her soap acting is a bit meh.

I think Bill Roache is the worst actor. I can't stand Anthony Cotton but he can deliver comedy very well. Bill Roache can't deliver nothing. He's had the same expression and tone for 50 years.

Worst actress has to be Tracy Ford.

Michael Rodwell and Faye Windass; both embarassing to watch.

I'd say Less Dennis as Michael Rodwell is possibly the worst on CS. He is absolutely shocking, I cannot even bear to watch his scenes!!

Actor - Jimmi Harkishan (Dev) - for always and for ever.
Actress - Kym Marsh - just does a very poor rip-off of Liz

Re Antony Cotton - he may "deliver comedy very well" but he is still playing himself each and every time.

Isn't that the fault of the writers, rather than the actor? Anyway, if he's convincing in the part, that means he's a decent actor, surely?

Apart from that, I'd find it hard to decide who amongst those nominated is actually the worst.

Don't know their real names but Bethany and Callum are beyond buttock clenchingly bad.

Helen Worth has been getting worse recently. Her expressions are ridiculous. Gail isn't funny, she's just stupid and badly acted. Very badly acted.
Antony Cotton is terrible and as has been said he does just play himself. I've never liked him, not even once.
The actor who plays Dev is also terrible. His crying scenes have always been monumentally bad.

Oh god we're spoilt for choice!

I'm going to go for Jennie McAlpine and Jimmi Harkishin.

Actor : Antony Cotton and Jimmi Harkishin without a doubt - no other men on the show even comes close.

Actress: Too many to choose - Brooke Vincent, Kym Marsh, Jennie McAlpine, Katie McGlynn and Ellie Leach spring to mind.

I like to do these before I look at all the answers so, for me, it is

Actor: Antony Cotton - you can't even call him an actor really. All he does is fold his arms and pout. Honourable mentions to Dev and Zeedan

Actress - Yasmeen Nazir - painful, just painful. I think it may be more the way the character (and actually the whole family) is written but she is still just awful. Runners up are Sophie Screeching Wench Webster. I would throw Mary in but I have a feeling she is being directed to put in such a terrible, stilted performance so I won't blame the actor.

Edit: Now I've read your answers I have to agree with you about Michael, he is just dreadful, makes me want to rip off a limb so I have something to throw at the screen. But again, that could be the writing. I do think Ellie Leach gets too much criticism. She is a character it's almost impossible to like, but that's intentional and I think she portrays it pretty well.

All you need is a B in GCSE Drama to get a job on Corrie.

Yeah the show isn't exactly picky about who it employs.

Although I chose Jennie and Jimmi, I could easily have chosen any of the following, who are all as bad:

Antony Cotton, Sean Ward, Barbara Knox, Lucy Fallon, William Roache, Kym Marsh, Kate Ford, Andy Whyment, Brooke Vincent, Ellie Leach, Bev Callard, Granny Nazir and the Nazir kids.

I'm sure I've missed some!

Cotton doesn't really 'act', he just portrays himself as a caricature.

That said, the writers are partly at fault for this.

I haven't watched in quite a while but Jimmi Harkishin is appalling. He makes me laugh for all the wrong reasons.

Bill Roche is very stilted. "Peter's in there" is possibly the single most wooden line reading I have ever heard.

Face it people, 99.9% of the cast are shite and the producer is a waste of time.

Jimmi Harkishin is nothing like Dev, so he must be doing OK.

Surprised Antony Cotton is listed here, he normally does a good job as Sean Tully.
