Actress - Yasmeen Nazir - painful, just painful. I think it may be more the way the character (and actually the whole family) is written but she is still just awful. Runners up are Sophie Screeching Wench Webster. I would throw Mary in but I have a feeling she is being directed to put in such a terrible, stilted performance so I won't blame the actor.

Edit: Now I've read your answers I have to agree with you about Michael, he is just dreadful, makes me want to rip off a limb so I have something to throw at the screen. But again, that could be the writing. I do think Ellie Leach gets too much criticism. She is a character it's almost impossible to like, but that's intentional and I think she portrays it pretty well.”

The character of Tracy is even more difficult to like, evelredzebra, but Kate Ford acts the part well. Ellie Leach just scowls and rolls her eyes, which is not acting.

So difficult to choose - so many of them are dire! If I have to pick just two then it's Michael and Gail. They're unbearable to watch, whether together or apart.

Honourable mentions go to Callum/Bethany/Sarah.

Too true! I 'latched on' to Corrie only about 9 months ago when I saw the super-fit Michelle Keegan and the (fairly) interesting Peter/infidelity/alcoholism story. I wondered why the hell I'd been concentrating on EE, with it's cast of manic depressives, thugs, liars, heavy drinkers etc. (and that just in real life!)

Sad to say, CS has plumetted since. The 'acting' is pathetic, the 'storylines' ditto. The recent 'fire' could have come from 'Casualty/disaster/'who left those gas bottles lying around?' central.

It's truly dire and I can't stomach it's amateurism any longer. Time to close it down and let the 'actors' do the endless rounds of Doctors, Holby, Casualty etc.

+1.
Wish they would disappear, and take Sarah with them.

The ones that stand out for me are Sarah Platt and Eileen, who is very limited - I can't stand it when she has to do anything emotional as she just shouts.

Les Dennis is crap too, and Sean's performance in the bus crash episode must be one of the worst ever on Corrie.

I find Craig a bit unconvincing too, though I like the character very much.

Sorry - that's more than one of each.

I agree. Helen Worth is a terrible actor and I don't get why so many people like Gail. The frequent blinking is annoying.

I don't think Antony Cotton is as bad as people make out. Yes, he's not the best actor in the world but he's hardly Robert Pattinson-bad.

Quote:
“Actress: Hayley Tamaddon (Andrea)... Always has a stupid grin on her face, even in the scenes where she was dumping her hubby & supposedly hanging on for dear life from the Rover's guttering!! Again useless at serious drama!!!”

Totally disagree. Hayley Tamaddon is one of the best soap actors around and it's been great to see her play such a likeable character in Corrie.

He is a legend fair enough, but he can't act for toffee poor bloke! (IMO of course)

So you think the Rover's guttering incident was well acted drama then? Ok fair enough

Possibly because Cotton is Sean Tully. He's just being himself.

antony cotton and ellie leach for me. They both seem like they are just reading their lines instead of acting them. What's arguably worse is when they actually try and act in a dramatic way and they just look terrible.

Simon Gregson and Craig Charles are inconsistent, good in some scenes and terrible in others. Steve is another character they have given the buffoon treatment to in recent times. The backbone he once had wasn't visible when Michelle was treating him like a POS for ages. Although Karen could be domineering, he at least spoke his mind back then.

Steve's depression felt hollow to me as I wasn't entirely sure where it had come from and he seemed much brighter once he'd smoothed things out with Michelle, implying that he was only depressed in the first place due to their break up, when it was Steve who chose to end things with Michelle after his depression had started. I think the poor structure of the storyline left Gregson with nothing specific to play and the performances he gave were often half-hearted and vague, and not in a deliberate way to complement Steve's state of mind.

Charles is good in the cab office scenes with Steve and Eileen but in a more central role, usually LLoyd getting involved with a woman with whom he has no chemistry, he's s**t.

Haha that was brilliant!!! A hundred times better than the original scenes and, as you say, 'Andrea' with that big grin on her face!! Priceless!! I shall now go to bed laughing!!

That is so good Much more convincing than the original.

I'd forgotten how awful Liz was to poor old Tim, not letting him use the ladder to come down from the roof

The guy who plays Dev is very one dimensional, none of the women bother me too much.

Hard to narrow it down to just one of each but I'm going to go for

Female - Fizz

Male - the young Asian dude that's just lost his dad, made such an impact I can't remember his name
