*Not Used Channel 4+1 or E4+1 as 5+1 ratings aren’t reported so would give an unfair comparison

Surely if the ratings for HO keep falling, C4 will have to take action against Birkwood? However, it great to see Neighbours rating so well for C5 and it always gets a good share percentage.

People are finally switching off from the joke of a soap that Hollyoaks has become. Berkwood should be fired straight away.

It'll only mean something if it continues over the summer and into September. Right now it's too easy for C4 and BK to spin it as weather related and people watching via other means.

And I can't quite see that happening, sadly.

This is interesting but I wish the figures would include catch-up or Demand 5 & 4, who on earth watches the show at the standard time any more? I don't know if online figures would put Hollyoaks in front but this is certainly good for Neighbours. Do you have time to do a H&A comparison? Thats the other newsworthy story. H&A has completely bottomed out.

Just a quick update. Hopefully the HO ratings keep falling, then C4 will finally take action against Berkwood and the s**t he's trying to pass as 'entertainment'.

About 700,000 people, clearly.

H&A's figures have really fallen here in the last few years. I remember at one time they were consistently between 1.3-1.5 million on average every day plus around 800,000 for the first look.

Nowadays, the show is lucky to get above 600,000 at 6pm and above 400,000 for the first look.

Whilst I do loathe Hollyoaks at the moment, I still believe more people are watching it than Neighbours. Your figures don't sadly include online viewing and recordings. I think more people are inclined to watch Neighbours at the set time rather than later on. And anyways, some people will watch Hollyoaks weekdays at 12pm I think it is aired?

Kirkwood has got to go by the 20th anniversary. He is sinking the show and it needs a life line. His camp, outrageous storytelling demonstrates how completely delusional he is, if he thinks soap fans are engrossed by imitation Hollywood action scenes in a Chester village. A place that has a death rate only matched by the villages in Midsomer Murders.

Clearly the Braxton / bad boys / mafia style of recent years has really seen H&A really not be anywhere near as good since mid-late 00s of more 'domestic' storylines.

If you're going to take Hollyoaks online into account then how many watch Neighbours online at Aus pace like I do??

There's also demand 5, 5+1, 5+24 and 5* that also repeat Neighbours. I do hope one day we get to see Neighbours the same day as Australia. Australia is still ahead time wise, so therefore they would still get to see it first.

I think Neighbours has more repeats than HO if you include the illegal online viewing of Aussie episodes. it is crazy in this day and age that we don't get the same show at the same time as Oz.

I agree, it's ridiculous. I remember a few years ago when I emailed c5, they said as part of their H&A contract, they have to remain 6 weeks or more behind.

Why not just scrap their Home and Away contract? it's their worst rated program so why continue showing it?

I Think it's true that. Plus Channel 5 in the last contract they won have 'European first view' rights so in Ireland for example i'm sure in past few years it airs a day behind the UK instead of airing on the same day or occasionally being a day or two in front.

It's still rating well enough in it's slots. Plus still getting well enough viewers in it's specific slots.
