I became suspicious about this 'story' when it included what I assume is a massively inflated audience rating figure. Methinks a balloon is being floated to see what the reaction is. Edmonds' PR agenda to make sure he gets a decent dealt when the contracts are signed? Albeit there is a concession about the repetitive nature of the format, so I could be wrong. Certainly, the desperation to 'update' the programme with so many new gimmicks suggests it' s struggling. Probably C4 will give it enough time to reach 10 years, then Edmonds can brag on about 'ten wonderful, glorious, life changeing etc etc etc years.

I think the problem with DOND at the moment is that the producers have tried to liven up the concept with new gimmicks and distractions, along with the lengthening of the programme from 45 minutes to 60.

The offer button and box 23 are unnecessary as far as I'm concerned- get rid of both of them, make the show 45 minutes again, and axe the banal contestant chit-chat. Then the Channel 4 producers can watch the ratings go back up.

Perhaps a change of presenter would also liven things up- Dermot O'Leary could be a potential new host.

Nothing wrong with Noel at all. He's a part of why I watch. But the game should be played in the manner that made it popular, without the add ons. The article claiming 2 million viewers were ludicrous. It gets something between 300,000 and 500,000 at best now I think. The gimmicks have not altered that.

Noel has presented over 3000 shows and is part of the reason why DOND is losing it's touch, a new host would draw in new viewers and might be the shot in the arm the show needs to survive.

It would free up so much space in the schedules if it was not renewed. By rights this show should be no longer than 15 minutes!

Is there news on whether C4 as renewed the show. I read it was final year of Noels contract.

I guess they would have to gradually phase it out with each contestant having their game and not having any newbies. Maybe the newbies would be replaced by members of the audience or by past contestants one by one until the final contestant has their game.

Annoyed that the two episodes that I attended are caught up in the embargo. They were filmed in January. Having a confidentiality agreement is ridiculous when there is a 9/10 month gap.

Surely someone winning tens of thousands or even the quarter on a show done back in January isn't made to wait all these months until final broadcast before they get the cheque in their account. That would be an awfully unfair wait. I'm sure I read a post on here once which stated the prize is only forwarded on transmission of the show.

Show filmed in January and being shown this autumn is too far in arrears as far as I am concerned. Yet they will pretend it's September. It was only a handful of weeks at one stage.

At the filming they did not state when it would air. Someone in the audience heard a rumour that it was going to be in August. This warm up guy was surprised that they were up to August already. He was also surprised that me and my mum had come all the way from Aberdeen to see it. Some of the audience had only come down the road.

The first episode seen was significant...I would say more but it would ruin the box game you have on here.

You went some way to get there, so a true pilgrim in every sense of the word. As long as you thought it was worth it that's all that counts and from what you say it seems the game was interesting.

I've been saying so for about 2 years now and again on here that I thought DOND would likely reach the 10th anniversary and some point around then call it a day. I think it is fair to say that the show will be gone by the middle of next year at the very latest. Let's face it, a decade is a great stretch but since the start of 2014 and all that tinkering it has never been the same.

I have loved this show and stuck with it. I don't even tend to watch game shows. I watch no others at all. That it kept me for so long is amazing. Original format and Noel were the reasons. But since it went off air for the summer I can honestly say I have not missed it, and have barely thought about its return either. Have you missed it Richie, or been indifferent like me? Same question goes for all the other regulars on here.

The show was definitely due to return on 7th September so something has changed. Not only that but there was a post from G12th a while back that said they were holding out and hoping to get the original slot back at 4pm too. I heard this from another source too. So it seems that Channel 4 have been giving it the runaround somewhat. However I'm genuinely shocked that they are sticking it at the quite contemptible time of just after 1pm if that really is the case. Its viewing figure will only collapse badly at that time. Few can manage to watch then for obvious reasons, and even those that can might not want to anyway. It's finally been thrown to the wolves for devouring unceremoniously.

DOND deserved better than ending its days as lunchtime filler.

Always knew Noel would get a turn in the crazy chair close to the end of DOND. Should be interesting. Who's hosting though?

Have to say I have found this break quite refreshing and looking forward to getting back to business on the 18th with Noel's game no matter how long is left for the show
