MONDAY 6TH JULY
Stacey finds herself stuck in a rut as she welcomes her mother Jean back to the Square. Worried sick that her mother would start judging her for using Martin, she storms out and sits on Arthur's bench as Jean follows her. Whilst it is in her best interests to comfort and protect her daughter, she knows that something is up. "You aren't taking your medication are you?" Jean quips out of no air and Stacey reacts badly, wanting to avoid the question. As she brings up Shabnam and her upcoming wedding, Jean mentions that she's getting married the next day and invites Stacey and Lily to the ceremony. "I don't wanna go," Stacey point blank refuses and immediately Jean riles up. There is an awkward silence in the air and Stacey sighs. "I'm sorry alright, I'm just so stressed out." She mentions and Jean hugs her and apologises for not being there for her. The pair then discuss dress shopping and as Stacey goes to get up, she sees Kush who wants to talk to her.
"I'm not in the mood okay?" she informs him. He tugs her and pulls her to one side. "We need to talk," he says and Stacey almost cannot be bothered to hear what he says. "What about?" she asks and Kush explains that Shabnam is starting to pressure him about the baby and their wedding. He then informs her that he's scared but can't tell Shabnam. At this point, Jean eggs Stacey on to get a move on. Stacey tells Kush that she'll talk to Shabnam later and leaves him.
Tamwar is concerned for Nancy and her seizures and talks to her about seeking help. When the offer arises, Nancy is scared and tells him that it will 'ruin everything'. Tamwar stops there and informs her that when the time is right, she should. As he gets up to leave, Nancy stops him and almost cannot keep her secret a secret any longer. Nancy sees him out and says, "He can never know," to herself.
Meanwhile as Stacey and Jean go dress shopping, Jean notices a key on Stacey's neck. Shocked, she tries to hide her face but it does not go unnoticed by Stacey who questions her on it. "What is it?" she asks and Jean goes silent. "Oh nothing, nothing indeed!" Stacey tugs on the necklace and walks off. Martin walks in. "Is she alright?" he asks Jean and she just says nothing.
Carol and Max are sitting in the cafe when Carol notices a handful of envelopes in his hand. "What are they for?" she asks. "Mortgage payments," he says and she takes one and reads it. When she finds out the extent of them, she realises that he's behind on his payments. "Why didn't you tell me?" Carol asks surprised. "I didn't want to trouble you," Max says. Carol walks off and Max follows her home. "If it's any problem then you'd do the right thing," she mentions. "Like what?" he asks. "Rent out your house and live with me." she says. He tells her that he'll think about it. As they look at their father's old bike, they reminisce about Derek and their teenage years.
As Max starts up the bike, Carol looks up at an unknown figure and gulps.
