Max is the favorite but I really am not sure, Lauren knows the truth and she wouldn't let Max go to prison. It would also mean Lauren returning soon and Jacqueline Jossa is no where near ready to return to the show in a big story so soon after having a baby. I don't think it will be Max like we all think.

It could be Ian or Cindy, but I think they will want Ian on the square for Kathy's return and I think having him arrested would be to much, though it would at least be plausible to keep it all secret for longer.

With the news now that Marsden is coming back for the Lucy story I am now looking firmly at one of the Mitchells, not Phil or Sharon but Ben, I don't know though whether Ian would allow his own brother to be arrested but that would at least mean Kathy's reason to return would be even bigger. We also have Billy and Lola, Lola is leaving after all and Ian would feel no loyalty towards her.

Anyone else any thoughts?

Max is probably the most obvious name. Jake Wood is taking a break soon, although he may equally be written out along with Carol when she leaves (perhaps going to India with Robbie). Lauren probably knows the truth, so if Max gets arrested, she'll have a storyline waiting for her when she's back. She doesn't always see eye to eye with Max, but no way would she let her own father rot in prison for a crime he didn't commit. If it is Max, Lauren's first call of duty will be to clear his name.

If Cindy gets arrested, Ian and Jane will be in massive s*** as she'll probably tell the police everything that happened. She could implicate herself in the cover up, but Jane's role in carrying Lucy's body to Walford Common will place her firmly in police sights.

Abi and Denise are outside prospects. Both of them physically attacked Lucy on the night. Denise was more of a retaliation.

With Marsden returning she'll obviously have a Mitchell in mind. Aside from an odd scene with Phil she won't be able to bring him down. Plus he's obviously going to be around for Kathy's full time return. Could be Ben. He already has a criminal past, is a Mitchell (good enough for Marsden) and interacted with Lucy on the night of the murder, by way of theft of her purse. And even though Kathy is Ben's mum, maybe Harry Reid having scenes with Gillian Taylforth isn't as symbolic as the ones she'll be having with Adam Woodyatt and Steve McFadden who've been significant in her EE history. Hence a Kathy/Ben reunion isn't a priority as none of the three Ben actors, since the character became regular, shared screen time with Gill.

Ben is a good call. Lied to protect son and brother is hauled in for it. Did anyone else see more of what went on but has kept quiet. This is where Max fits in I think.

Max or cindy i think. Abi would also be a candiate and laurens return could clearly be clearing abi or maxs name. However abi isnt going anywhere.

I think Minty is notable by his absence throughout this storyline and fully expect Beale and McBeale the sociopath to pin it on him.

if the feud between Max & the Mitchell's over Max conning them out of the Arches is still going on I wouldn't be surprised if Max is the new witness who comes forward leading to either Ben, Jay or Phil being wrongfully arrested.

With how hostile things have been between Cindy and the beales , i think Cindy. Also with Cindy being arrested she'll more than likely try and prove her innocence and give up Bobby, Which will push the police to investigate Bobby- if the police take her seriously. Jane also has Lucy's phone and purse, which could be used to frame Cindy...

Another possibility it being Ian due to his rough handling of Cindy in front of carol which shows he has a short fuse.

I've read about Carol overhearing a conversation between Cindy and Ian, I think it'll be her that'll call the police or she'll go to Jane with whatever she's heard and
Jane then panics and frames Cindy with Lucy's phone and purse...

Or it could be boring and be Max, and drag on for another year whilst Jake Wood takes a year break from the show.

I would guess Lola as it then frees Lexi up to go to Ben and heightens all the drama with Abi trying to be perfect housewife and Kathy return...plus we know Lola is leaving anyway so maybe she is quickly proven innocent but then doesnt wanna stay round the square anymore.

Max is boring and lifts right out now anyway with zero impact, so yeh could be him too I guess but figured his exit storyline would be more tied with Carols now and they would go travelling together.
