Is DTC's time nearly up?
He's been at EastEnders almost 2 years now, IIRC he was officially revealed as the EP during the final days of July 2013... I really need to read that he has left the show because the Carter overload and dull storylines are getting overbearing now! He was fantastic right up until Live week, but since then, we've had a handful of good episodes... Surely others agree that he's become very complacent!

Doesn't he have a 'golden handcuffs' deal? So he'll be staying a while.

I hope so. Far too biased, shoved a few characters down our theoats, underuses alotnof characters, undevelops alot of characters, axes charaacters with alot kore potential, block storytelling, too many slow burners at once, baby obsession, celeb sogning...

Since live week we have had: The Stan cancer story line and death The Kat and Alfie stuff including Kat's brilliant scenes with June Whitfield, the lottery win and departure We had the return of Dean and Buster The departures of Lauren and Peter The Shabnam and Jade stories and the c/f reveal The Shabnam/Kush/Stacey/Martin square The budding romance of Nancy and Tamwar The introduction of Claudette Hubbard and Paul Coker The intrigue of Vincent and his decking of Phil The Sharon biological father stuff and much more, I don't know what soap fans expect but I suspect they are unrealistic in wanting excitement all the time, where a drama of 6 or 12 episodes may be able to afford such things, soaps which are long running don't have the budget. I think DTC has done a decent job, mistakes have been made but every EP including Julia Smith have so I am happy for him to stay. |

I disagree, I'm quite happy with him, and think the whole "Carter overload" thing and the "since live week it's gone blahblah blah" thing are a bit cliche. EE and DTC are fine at the mo

Or is it just the carters you're referring to even though last Friday was the only time we've seen them in weeks. |

I think there were a terrible few months after live week, mostly garbage stories about characters I don't care about, but now there are finally stories to get me interested again. Hopefully the annual august shutdown won't happen this year. No one needs a month of Micks swimming drama again.

So the Masoods and Mitchells are being overused you agree.
Or is it just the carters you're referring to even though last Friday was the only time we've seen them in weeks. Ive enjoyed the mick and linda break and am ready to see linda again but mick in worried will be one thing after anothee again and hes a tired characrer already. Shirley however hasnt been anyone but one our screens 80% of the time. |

Not the masood as they had a year jn the half doing nothing in the background...aside from the younger mitchells and billy they have been heavily used throughout but have awful storylines aside from phils involvement with kathy currently. I cannot stand the phil/sharon pairing either which is anotemher thing ruining the show for me. Sharon works better wothout a man.

The Carters have been very quiet for months now. Your Carter overload point is about 9 months to late.

Like Aaron_Silver said, there has been a hell of a lot more than a "few" good episodes. Yes the show did slow down for a while and the Dean mess and Vincent crap did drag the show for a while, we are getting stronger material than we did for years. I don't know what people want now, but following the death of an old man and the affects on his family and an abuse victim facing her past and a breast cancer survivor struggling with the loss of her breasts is exactly the hard and truthful stories EastEnders is famou for. What exactly is the issue with DTC's vision at this point?
But hey, people love to be outraged. This happens with every producer. |
