Is it still EE and 3 which are the best and Vodafone and 02 who are the worst?

EE's the best, Vodafone then o2 then Three would be my personal rankings for current 4g network (three still has a better overall network IMO). For theoretical at the moment it goes EE, Voda, Three, o2. This might change because of spectrum auctions and mergers though.

1-EE (3g is garbage)
2-Vodafone (3g is good)
3-o2 ( no idea about 3g)
4-3 (3g is slow in some areas if congested)

Agreed, but with EE being the best overall network as opposed to 3

I thought Vodafone are awful? Heard they mainly use 2G and their internet is poor?

Vodafone are awful in my own opinion and i'm sure others but the question was in relation to the "best" 4G network.

If you get Voda 4G its okay (10mbps versus 30 on EE) but out of 4G areas Voda is horrible.

Where I live it O2 and Vodafone. EE seem to have little bit of patchy rural coverage here, and Three don't have anything.
I get around 50mbps download and 10mbps up here on Tesco Mobile (O2).

I think EE are my safest best then. I need fast reliable internet in london. I am with 3 and tbh not that impressed. Want to change networks.

Definitely go with EE

That's basically my experience. They've begun rolling out their 2600 in Manchester and London as well which is helping.

I spend a lot of time in London but it's very central so I don't get to see much. When I go out I find Three network to be spotty there, in the Olympic Park / Westfield Shopping Centre area couldn't get reliable Three 4g nor at the University of Greenwich. Had good signals from Vodafone and EE.

So EE is my best best

I get discount with Vodafone and 02 though because of where i work....30% off any tariff but after what I've read i will get a contract with EE

EE is pretty much always the best bet, but you pay for it. That's my opinion anyway.

EE's 3G here in the SW is perfectly fine. If you look at the networks coverage maps for the SW (2/3/4G) you'll see EE are spoiling us!

3 in the south west is good also - but their 4G network is utterly pointless as things stand, to say their 4G coverage is woeful is an understatement and the performance when you actually do get it, isn't anything to write home about

Chitter Chatter are slightly cheaper than EE

I'm 20 miles from Heathrow and our work phones are Vodafone and my personal phone is EE. If you stay in London 99% of the time then there is little to choose between, but if you travel around the UK, and need mobile data where you go, don't choose Vodafone today. If you need voice they are great. Often on the main roads (e.g. A1 north of Bedford) you'll find Vodafone has GPRS and data doesn't work so iMessage / WhatsApp etc don't work, and Waze sat nav is painful, but O2 has just about workable data, where Three and EE have generally 5mbps or higher.

Vodafone 3G and 4G is amazing here. Rural, so there's barely EE 2G, let alone 3G or 4G. Three is equally useless. In areas where Vodafone has 3G, it's as good/better than EE's, their 4G is roughly the same on average, as I've found EE either is much faster or much slower than Vodafone.

what area are you in?
it makes more sense to go with Vodafone money wise as I get 20% discount off all contracts.

Being rural doesn't mean a lot unless rural means somewhere like the Scottish Highlands.

I'm in a predominantly rural part of the country. EE and 3 are untouchable for 3G coverage, and EE alone for 4G. No 3/Vodafone/O2 4G coverage for some distance, and Vodafone/O2 here is more likely to give your crappy GPRS.

I don't agree about Vodafone's 3G performance. It's like going back to 2003 compared to the superb speeds of EE-3. Even in a town or city it's nowhere near as good - as if the backhaul isn't up to it

YMMV of course

Vodafone 3g is good on 4ged masts in my experience. Looking at it from a spectrum point of view for 3g, they've got a good amount of each in 900/2100 because they spent the most didn't they? Looking at the figures they spent £5.9 billion in 2000. Counting in inflation that's about £8 or £9 billion now.

more Vodafone bashing as per usual on this very Biased toward EE forum, Inside the M25 all the Networks provide good 4G but of course because the masts for each operator often being in different places the signal will vary. I am on Voda simply because it provides me with the best signal where I live in terms of signal here Voda by far the strongest full signal 3G half signal 4G (with up to 20mbps on 3G) Folowed by O2, and finally three and EE joint last with no signal at all indoors downstairs!

Could it be that the forum simply reflects the reality that in %age terms, EE have the most 4G coverage, EE/3 have the most 3G coverage, and both companies have been investing in the quality of their networks too, through DC-HSPA, backhaul upgrades and so on

Vodafone and O2's failure to invest has been patently clear for ages and it's going to take them a while to fix that.
