Galaxy S3 & Note 2 wont get Lollipop in UK but Denmark & Poland will get update
Everything Goes
06-07-2015
Yet another slap in the face from Samsung and their largely discredited software update policy. This time aimed squarely at UK customers. Owners of the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will not get Lollipop in the UK, however if you live in Denmark or Poland then you will get the update. They did the same with the S3 Mini where the Republic of Ireland will get Lollipop but the UK wont.

Anyone thinking of buying a phone from Samsung may want to think about it carefully otherwise expect to get shafted in a year or two.

It just means it's time to look to XDA developers and co.

Thanks to someone on their forums I have an old S2 that is running Lollipop reasonably well.

If it hasn't already been worked out, someone will post instructions on how to get the Samsung update onto any version of the S3/N2

Download the latest version of Odin. Download the firmware you want to flash (from SamMobile). Flash your phone. Very very simple.

Two things though. If you still have an S3 (my sister) or Note 2 you will either not even know what version of Android your phone has never mind being bothered by it, or you will be already flashing custom ROMs. Secondly I wouldn't touch this update with a barge pole. It will completley effup these phones.

Don't you mean 3 or 4 years, as I know the S3 is well over 3 years old now.

The people that are bothered about having the latest software usually change their phones every 2 years.

Also Android does not have to do a total upgrade to get the latest software packages like latest maps and EMAIL (like the iPhone has to) - they just make them available to download the actual latest app, so I don't really see the problem as the S3 will not take advantage of the 64bit operating system anyway.

With the older versions of the iPhone they are always missing a lot of the options from the latest versions of software as well and it's not like there have been any problems with older iPhones updating to the latest version of software making them virtually unusable is it?

Even if they can't get the latest version of software there are so many other options with Android like routing, different launcher and customization to make it look different/the same as the latest release.
