EE opinion on Jean
After seeing Jean tonight I realised I haven't missed her as I don't like the character. I was wondering do people like or dislike Jean?

I don't like Jean, I know she has bipolar but she is still incredibly irritating

I never really liked Jean i always found her very irritating however I don't mind her in small doses so haven't minded her brief returns these last couple of years. And of course it adds to realism as well having a character return to visit their close family.

Quite annoying. And clearly off her meds. But the actress is good. Was quite chilling tonight when she screeched "don't snatch!"

I find her irritating too and I wish she wouldn't wear such short dresses, which teenagers would be wearing. (I am of course referring to how the character is dressed, not criticising the actress' own appearance/style.)

As you know, there are barely two dozen characters in Eastenders that I absolutely despise. But Jean takes the bloody biscuit, she really does. Top of the list. Her own list. With just her. Loathe her.
That incessant screeching is one of the most displeasing, aggravating, and horrid noises I've ever heard. |

Dreadful awful character. I wish she would speed off in that car and never be seen again, but no, we have that nightmare wedding to endure, I mean enjoy.
She has been done to death and there is nothing more from her...I'm sure they'll wheel out the phrase 'sausage surprise' somewhere....probably on the wedding night. |

Its the voice. She reminds me of a squeaky toy trapped in a door!

She was a bit manic tonight and spiteful at times - it was s bit weird to see her ge so cruel to Stacy about only telling her because Ollie made her and the way she snapped at Lily and attacked Stacey was just weird if we're supposed to believe that she's still on her meds.
I was never really a Jean fan - she's ok in teeny, tiny, small doses, but overall I'm really glad she's not in it anymore. |

I thought no the actress is incredible. That scene tonight when she noticed the key and tried to grab it. Her voice control to quickly change to and convey different emotions was great.

Jean was the reason I stopped watching Eastenders. I am also bipolar, and yes as has been stated it's not a standard illness that is the same for everyone. However the plaudits she received, and the way people revered her depiction of a bipolar patient irritated me because to the general population, with no understanding of the illness, they would have read the reviews and assumed she was really doing a good job of it. To me, when I watched her, she came across as someone with a learning disability not a mental health problem.
