I already have one. Did anyone else receive a random Home Hub 5 today?

It came with a leaflet saying:
"A New Free BT Hub 5 for you"

So I'm guessing they're not going to charge me, but I mean, I only got BT Infinite at Christmas, so I've already got a Home Hub 5. Has there been some sort of hardware revision? (They both say Type A)

PS Anyone know if you can use a Home Hub 5 as a network switch?

You can quite easily use them as network switches and also access points. Just need to play with the IP settings of it.

I'm still using the Home Hub 3 and its worked mostly fine for over the last 4 years. The white Openreach modem as had to be replaced 3 times in that time though.
Could maybe do with a new Home Hub as the Wi-FI singnal once in a while seems to go from medium strenth to weak if in living room or kitchen but I will not be that lucky to get a new free Home Hub as there really not much wrong with the Home Hub 3 that im using.

Eep, I didn't have email notifications enabled so I didn't see these replies.

Interesting, I couldn't find a guide, but I suppose it shouldn't be too difficult. The interface couldn't have changed that much from previous home hubs. For some reason, I had it in my head that BT had stopped home hubs being used as switches.

Good to know. I really don't want to have to deal with BT customer support ever again... it took literally months to get fibre installed, weeks without internet and then when I was finally connected, Sky announced fibre for my area (who I was originally with). Never again.

Do you have it still. Fancy selling it?
It's tempting but I think I might keep it around if they're kind of unreliable. Also, I really like the idea of PS4/XBO/Steam remote play working nicely, so I kind of want a switch anyway.
