Helping is the operative word here. Barrymore himself said I am helping a friend "I don't get paid for it. I help out because I enjoy gardening,
Last year he appeared on This Morning in a segment about peoples incomes. He was interviewed by Martin Lewis, the money expert. He had to show proof of income. His income was a pension which paid over £100k a year which surprised Lewis. Barrymore admitted he doesnt earn much now but his pension and royalties paid well. In 2004 he was filed for bankruptcy over an paid tax bill. That was settled and the bankruptcy was overturned
