Bad journalism at its best. While I am under no illusion H&A is in trouble, to say it is could be axed is sensationalism at its finest. The show makes a ridiculous amount of money both at home and away, pun intended, for the Seven network so to suggest it will be axed after a few weeks of bad ratings is ridiculous.

Home & Aways target 16-40 audience have little to no interest in the elderly Pippa apart from old sentimental reasoning... How much of the younger audience tune in nowadays to see Alf and Irene? Sure if they make H&A target 30-60 and make it a cosy family drama it'll be fine but thats not what they want

Funny how H&A managed perfectly well to have broad appeal and not be a 'cosy family drama' years ago. If it could then, why can't it now? A soap filled with rampant, bland, romantic teenagers is not going to be taken seriously.

I think doing these things will at least make it "feel" like Home and Away. Were it not for some of the familiar characters like Alf and Irene, and the familiar locations like Summer Bay House and Palm Beach, you'd be forgiven for thinking that you're watching a different show.
Hopefully it will start to improve now that Louise Bowes has left. We just need Lucy Addario to leave as well and hopefully we'll really start to notice it going back to how good it used to be.
It's become diabolical. I can't watch it now, it's that boring. It went down hill since Heath and Bianca left in my opinion. I know people used to moan about Braxton overload but if they had never of come into it, Id probably switched off yonks ago. I thought they were a great edition to the show. And to top it off now Brax is leaving. Having just Kyle is just boring as he hasn't got the same charm or stage presence as his brothers had. Well people have got their wish and the Braxton's are dropping off yet the show is a thousand times worse now. Unless you like to watch boring characters having sex a lot.

I loved the braxtons. The focus is too much on the teens now
The Braxtons are actually the reason I switched off. A bunch of scumbag yobbos who completely took over the show.

I totally disagree with all this. Just because you would have switched off yonks ago if the Braxtons hadn't come into it doesn't mean everyone else would have. I personally think it started going downhill when the Braxtons came into it but that's just my opinion. I don't take notice of "boring characters having sex a lot" (who are they?) I watch for the storylines, particularly Alf's at the moment. Also there's Leah and her health situation, Ricky and her baby worries. I think it's in a pretty good place at the moment.

The world has moved on from the 80's and 90's. The fact H&A refuses to acknowledge 2015 social normalities doesnt help either

The point is, H&A has become unrecongnisable from its original remit - a family-oriented drama centred around a caravan park, involving many social issues which is what got it recognition in the first place. A soap should progress, evolve, develop, but it should never forget its roots, otherwise it's not true to itself, and therefore to its audience.

The only bit that has changed in the show is that it is now too teen oriented. It has always been predominantly straight and white. I want characters introduced for real, believable reasons, not just because they're not white or not straight. How are you sure what Australia is like? I used to live there as a child and I don't proclaim to know how it is now. I've already said how producers and characters need axing, but I retract that statement if we're going to have to have Priscilla Queen of the Desert move in to satisfy some idea of tokenism.
Of course I'm talking extremes here. It has lost its way a bit, but it still handles things very well such as the ANZAC Day story. It is going through a transition period, that is all.
I cannot see the producers and Home And Away team letting the soap get axed right now, so do think they will take action. They might get a new producer/writing team/characters and the channel may promote the soap more.

Very true. People should keep this in mind. It's nowhere near say, the problems Hollyoaks has with ratings.

Maybe the channel is trying to get more people to watch with the axing suggestion.
I would be gutted if Home And Away/Neighbours were axed right now.

Exactly- the fact that LGBT characters are never featured is one of them.
Liked the bras tons, love Marilyn and John, hate the taking it to the next level, Aussie speak for sex, why is everyone jumping into bed with everyone, I'm no prude but it seems to be every storyline,
The Braxton's had their good points and their bad points. Casey and Brax did my nut in as one of them always in hospital, doing a crime etc, very tedious with them two.
Kyle is such an intriguing character and is a decent human being, doesn't like to get caught up in all the mess the Brax and Casey did and has his heart in the right place. Heath was a wonderful character once they put him with Bianca and he really did make good character development by the time he left, unlike Brax and Casey who went round in circles.

Yes I'm glad Alf's been given some decent material I'm enjoying it, Leah played by a fantastic actress she is doing well with her storyline. Ricky is great too. Matt and Maddie's friendship hasn't been bad either. So it's not all bad, but they could do with a better balance of things. The fostering element and family dynamics must return.

Ada is one of the best actresses the show has ever had. She is one of the reasons why I keep dipping in and out, it would be such a monumental loss to the show if she ever left.
