hmmmm very tempting - if they added Univarsal and Fox to that could be tempted away from Sky!

I've just seen this and finally comes with Chromecast support! Might finally be able to get rid of that dodgy indoor aerial in my bedroom!

^^ Grab yourself an Amazon Fire TV Stick, and you will get an almost normal live TV experience as well. The AFTV app for TVPlayer works great.

I got a email from tvplayer stating that tvplayer plus will have even more channels on it.
Weather that is true or not remains to be seen. And when do they launch this app, because if it does then I might cancel my now tv subscription.. |

It does say it works for Chromecast but I get people's complaints on here that çhromecast keeps juddering sometimes and the amazon fire stick is better. But the amazon fire stick dosent have the bt sports app which the chromecast does. If it does have it built in then I might consider it.

Have you side loaded the app. Because when I tried it on my fire TV via the official Fire TV app you could not get all of the Channels, Dave was missing.

Sounds good. I already now and again use TV player via my Samsung smart TV for the likes of Heart TV.
Not sure if I would pay extra for the TV Player Plus service as I'm already paying BT for there BT TV service with Youview. Darren |

I quite like the idea of this, given that pay TV over internet was only available on Sky Go, Now TV (very few channels) and the only other providers BT & Talk Talk TV require you to have their broadband to watch them when they should have just offered an open package on the internet, TV Player Plus does this and lets you get Gold, Watch, alibi, H2, Discovery ID etc for just £5 a month I can see this being very useful and I can't wait for it to come to Android.
Sky Go's channel selection is even beaten by this in some ways because it offers H2 & Discovery ID. Hopefully this is more likely to grow than Sky and it'll end up offering Discovery History & Science and maybe more +1's, I don't really understand why Sky Go hasn't expanded much this year when it really should. I've signed up to the beta, tempted to leave it on but probably shouldn't as I already have Netflix, Prime & Sky HD Variety Pack at the moment, I also have a NOW TV trial running as well so I've got temporary access to Sky Movies via that for 2 months. |

As a quick guide to the channels you get over and above the Freeview ones which is already quite a lot of the Freeview lineup only missing ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, E4, More4 & Film4 & the Channel 5 channels.
FREE BBC ONE BBC TWO BBC THREE BBC FOUR BBC Red Button BBC News BBC Parliament BBC Alba CBBC CBeebies ITV Channel 4 Channel 5 Dave Dave Ja V Yesterday Yesterday+1 Quest Drama Really Travel Channel Food Network Tru TV 4Music All Box Music channels Now Music TV Capital TV Heart TV Clubland TV QVC CNN International Russia Today Al Jazeera and some more. PAY £5 a month Gold Watch alibi Good Food Home Eden Lifetime TLC Sony TV (free to view on satellite) Sony Movies (free to view on satellite) National Geographic Channel National Geographic Wild History (no history shown on it though!) H2 CI Discovery ID Discovery Channel Discovery Turbo Animal Planet British Eurosport British Eurosport 2 CN Boomerang Cartoonito Baby TV Also includes Dave, Dave Ja Vu, Yesterday, Yesterday+1, Drama & Really on just the free website.app. Seems to be a good solution almost reaching the variety of Sky's basic pack for only 35 a month, missing Comedy Central, Fox, MTV and obviously the Sky channels such as Sky1, Sky Atlantic, Challenge & Pick TV. Sky Go for some reason doesn't get expanded very often and has quite a mean channel selection still. NOW TV is £7 a month and its live channel selection is much poorer than this. |

^^ I pretty much agree with you there.
I think TVPlayer Plus is great value and combined with the free channels it really does offer some fantastic live viewing options. I especially like channels such as Dave and the BBC Red Button being there, and on the Plus side, EuroSport is a real highlight. On the negative side, the lack of all the extra ITV, Four and Five channels is a real serious omission. Just look how many matches are being missed via the Rugby World Cup without ITV4. I think TVPlayer should concentrate on getting the licensing for these a.s.a.p. Also, the video quality is lacking a bit. The streams are actually quite high bitrate-wise, but the quality for the amount of data streaming in could be a lot better. However, I don't really agree with the comparison to Now TV Entertainment. Your points are extremely valid of course, in that Now TV Ent has a lot fewer channels and costs more, but the channels it does have includes some pretty good ones like Sky 1. There is content on Sky that simply can't be found anywhere else, and that also is both their own in-house productions, as well as licensed shows like that from HBO. As well as that, they have something TVPlayer doesn't have, which is proper on-demand. I watch almost all of my television these days via on-demand or catch-up. I don't let a television schedule dictate my life anymore, with the one exception - sports. Live TV is great, but on-demand is the future. Now TV offer entire box sets and seasons to watch in HD when we want on loads more platforms than TVPlayer (although I expect TVPlayer to improve there over time). But, in all fairness, I think Now TV could really improve as well. I think they should open up to all the channels they offer on Sky Go for the equivalent package, which also means throwing in a pile of FTA TV as well. For me, I find having both an excellent solution for covering most of the UK's best Entertainment TV, having Now TV and TVPlayer Plus. For around £12, you get nearly a hundred channels including Sky, FTA, many freeview and Eurosport. |

The one to go for ....
I wonder if the new TV Player Plus offering has anything to do with VuTV closing down on 22nd October 2015? I shall give the new service a try out as it seems to be good value.
However. as it is available on Apple products only at the moment, other than browser viewing, I would like to know if and when the Plus app will appear on any smart Tv's soon. My TV is a Samsung so an app for that would be good. Roku? |

It is available on Android and Chromecast is coming soon (Actually, Plus is only on iOS and web for the moment, but that is just because it is still in beta). The quickest way to get TVPlayer on your computer is via the AFTV Stick, which is quite cheap - if you can't wait for the Samsung TV app. |

Have they set it up to work on on their freeview tv channel then? This doesn't sound a back offering and the price sounds good as well for the offering.
Market this well and they could shake up the budget end of the market. |
