Natalie Dormer IS the Doctor - Doctor Who Series 9 Fanmade Trailer
Hello!
This is a video I made recently, which I figured people might find interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDo1FjMOjDM It was meant to accompany these two articles, here and here. I also posted a making of, here. Hope you like it! |

Interesting articles!
I think that one of the best actresses for the role has sadly already had a role in the series, Surrane Jones. I know Capaldi was in it before but his role was a lot smaller than the TARDIS personified. I think the best way to introduce a female Doctor would be to have the Doctor regenerate at the end of the penultimate episode of a series. Unfortunately, I believe a huge amount of the audience would give up and not watch the show if the series opener was her first episode. If she wowed people in her first episode, being the final episode in the series, they're more inclined to give her a proper chance when the next series comes around. |

Wow people with the last story of a series? Just like Colin Baker... |

While I'm not exactly vying for a female Doctor, that was a pretty cool trailer though.

Thanks everyone!
(I lost the password to this account, hence the late reply.) It's been on most of the geek websites around at the minute that Natalie Dormer recently said she'd be interested in playing the role, so I'm hoping to try and share the video around a little more because of it. |

Here's a link that backs her interest.
http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-...ale-Doctor-Who It's a difficult one because you know that some would abandon Doctor Who as soon as she was cast regardless of the actor chosen, let alone give her an episode to establish herself as The Doctor. I'm not advocating for a female Doctor either but after thinking about this for a while I do wonder if this is inevitable tbh. Natalie would be one of my choices should they go that way, I'd rather her than an overly comedic actress who would overplay it. It would already be considered a gimmick or a 'jump the shark' moment as it is without going OTT, an understated performance would be the smartest play IMO. Like your article says give her an Eleventh Hour opener with the danger ramping up and up and not say a Christmas Invasion, keep her with a female companion at least initially before moving to a three team Tardis crew and most importantly don't make a huge deal about the change, obviously there would be differences but after the initial shock The Doctor shouldn't be constantly going on about it ( like he didn't with The Master) Nice trailer by the way, only annoyance was the use of footage from The Flash, look me out of it at the end. Fire at will

I enjoyed the video. I think the Doctor COULD be played by a female - as long as it wasn't for political correctness or to pacify the Feminists of the world.

That was very well done. I could really imagine what the show might be like even from that short trailer. It actually makes me think that a female Doctor could work very well, especially if she was quite assured and serious as portrayed in the trailer. Fancying the Doctor might take some getting used to, though.

i think missy was a test run to see how the world would react to a gender bending time lord/lady, and as far as i can tell she's been a hit! natalie dormer is one of my favourite actresses and if the doctor were to have a female regeneration she would be my pick. we share a birthday aswell but that's by the by.

For example, I really doubt that there's that many feminists that give a jot who plays the Doctor - but even if there were, how would we know what their influence on the process was? Sometimes you have to take things on their own merits. |

Very good video.
However, I don't think much of your idea that the BBC should look specifically for a woman. They should always cast the best person, regardless of gender. |
